As principal photography starts on the second season of Altered Carbon, Netflix has announced the sci-fi series' new cast.
In a new promo, the Netflix original series revealed its main cast, including new leads Anthony Mackie and Simone Missick. Mackie will portray the latest incarnation of the series' body-swapping protagonist Takeshi Kovacs. He had been the first actor confirmed for the second season, signing on the series this past July.
The new cast is joined by returning actors Renee Elise Goldsberry and Chris Conner, reprising their Season 1 roles as Quellcrist Falconer and Edgar Poe, respectively.
Based on the Richard K. Morgan novel of the same name, Altered Carbon takes place in a far-future where the rich can transfer their consciousness to new bodies. As civil unrest mounts, Kovacs must navigate memories of past bodies as he investigates a murder mystery.
Developed by television by Laeta Kalogridis who also executive produces the series, Altered Carbon will return on Netflix at an unspecified date in 2019 for eight episodes and stars Anthony Mackie, Simone Missick, Dina Shihabi, Torben Liebrecht, James Saito, Renee Elise Goldsberry and Chris Conner.
