The new Ant-Man and The Wasp TV spot reveals Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet van Dyne from 30 years ago, before she disappeared into the Quantum Realm.

The promo kicks off with a flashback that depicts a younger Janet smiling at her daughter Hope. Janet is then seen in her Wasp costume falling through the subatomic Quantum Realm, and Dr. Hank Pym confirms to Hope and Scott Lang their mission to bring her back.

Janet was introduced in flashback, in 2015's Ant-Man, when she disappeared into that microverse in the 1980s while disabling a Soviet nuclear missile. She was long presumed dead, but Scott Lang's journey to the Quantum Realm and back at the end of Ant-Man led Hank to believe his wife may have been able to survive, too.

This promo also focuses on the team-up between Paul Rudd's Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly's Wasp and that, in facing a new threat, they don't have a lot of time. The film's director Peyton Reed said Janet is "a very important character," which the TV spot drives home as well.

Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and The Wasp stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen, Randall Park and Walton Goggins. The film opens July 6.
