Ant-Man and the Wasp star Laurence Fishburne gave an unclear answer about his future with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During an interview with Comicbook.com, Fishburne was asked if audiences could expect to see him reprise his role as Dr. Bill Foster in any upcoming Marvel Studios projects. "What if I told you I don't know? I don't know," he said. The actor refused to go into more detail.

2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp featured Fishburne as Dr. Foster, a former associate of Hank Pym as well as an expert on quantum physics and size-changing technology. At the end of the film, Foster went on the run with Ava Starr/Ghost, hoping to find a cure for her molecular disequilibrium. This left the door open not only for both characters to return but for Foster to adopt his comic-book codename as the oversized hero, Goliath. Like her co-star, Hannah John-Kamen, who played Ghost, recently played coy when asked what her character was up to now. "She's good. She's very good," she said. "I won't say anything more about her!"

Characters confirmed for the third Ant-Man film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, include Jonathan Majors as the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang and Bill Murray in an undisclosed role. Additionally, rumors have circulated that MODOK will join the cast as another villain, played either by Jim Carrey or Corey Stoll, who played the villain Darren Cross/Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man movie. Meanwhile, Hawkeye's Hailee Steinfeld was reportedly spotted leaving the Pinewood Studios set of Quantumania in Buckinghamshire, UK, fueling speculation that Kate Bishop/Hawkeye could make an appearance in the film.

It was announced earlier this year that Fishburne would join the cast of MacGruber along with Sam Elliott and Mickey Rourke. While he is not reprising his role as Morpheus in The Matrix Resurrections, footage of his iconic role will be used in the film as actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II takes over as a variant of the hacker. Fishburne is also set to appear as the pigeon-keeping crime boss the Bowery King in John Wick: Chapter 4.

While it's unclear if Fishburne will return to the MCU in a future Ant-Man film, he is set to voice another Marvel character, the Beyonder, in Disney Channel's animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, on which he serves as an executive producer.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to land in theaters on July 28, 2023.
