The cast list for Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp teases a surprise addition, and the introduction of a classic comic book villain.
Although Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost is pitched as the primary antagonist of the superhero sequel, Egghead could be lurking in the shadows.
Although the storyline of Ant-Man and The Wasp will go on a trippy visit to the Quantum Realm in search of Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet van Dyne, there will be the usual problems of supervillains getting in the way before Hope (Evangeline Lilly) can reunite with her mother. Trailers have teased Ghost as the duo’s biggest problem, but it now looks as if Egghead will also have a presence in the film.
Disney fan site Stitch Kingdom revealed a full cast list, which has some interesting information. Along with confirming flashbacks with young versions of Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, Pfeiffer’s Janet and Lilly’s Hope, the name Elihas Starr also sticks out.

Starr is the alter ego of Marvel’s dome-headed Egghead. Introduced in 1962’s Tales to Astonish #38, Egghead famously went head to head with Hank Pym by trying to turn an army of ants again him. The cast list tips Gotham‘s Michael Cerveris to play Starr, and there is no denying that he has the look for the role.
Considering Egghead has been a frequent thorn in Pym’s side in the comics, there is every chance Starr could fit with Douglas’ expanded role as Hank in Ant-Man and The Wasp. With some fans left confused why an obscure villain like Ghost was chosen for the sequel instead of a classic Ant-Man foe, the inclusion of Egghead could provide an explanation.
It’s unclear how big of a role Elihas Starr will have, but he could serve as a secondary antagonist, like Bokeem Woodbine’s Shocker did in Spider-Man: Homecoming. It’s also possible Marvel Studios has been trolling fans again with its marketing campaign, and that Egghead will be the real villain of the movie. Of course, Starr’s appearance may only be an Easter (ahem) egg, intended as a nod to longtime comics readers, and nothing more.
Debuting in the United States on July 6, director Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and The Wasp stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/Wasp, Michael Peña as Luis, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Judy Greer as Maggie, Tip “T.I.” Harris as Dave, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.
