Leave it to Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp to hijack some of the hype for the record-breaking Avengers: Infinity War to build excitement for its own release.
Viewers can be forgiven if they mistakenly think the new TV spot, misleadingly titled "Universe," is actually for Infinity War. After all, they're treated to footage from the $2 billion-plus blockbuster as an announcer dramatically states, "Everything you know, everything you've experienced, had all led to this." However, this isn't the status quo-altering confrontation between Thanos and the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but rather Scott Lang's dinky card-table "desk" in the office of X-Con Security Consultants.
"You weren't there when we were choosing desks," Luis (Michael Pena) tells an incredulous Scott Lang (Paul Rudd). "The is garbage," says the one-time Ant-Man, and it turns out he's pretty close: Luis bought the table at a rummage sale.
The promo is just the right mix of drama -- even if it's Infinity War's drama -- and humor you probably want for the announcement of the beginning of advance ticket sales (today).
Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and The Wasp stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen, Randall Park and Walton Goggins.
