According to Deadline, veteran character actor Walton Goggins has boarded director Peyton Reed's sequel to Ant-Man -- titled Ant-Man and the Wasp -- in a mystery role.
In addition to having starred as a recurring character on FX's Justified, Goggins appeared in Quentin Tarrantino's Western-flavored Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight. He most recently was a lead cast member on HBO's comedy Vice Principals; he also showed up on NBC's Community in the series' penultimate season. He's set to star in the Tomb Raider reboot that his theaters on March 16, 2018.
Reed recently teased new equipment for Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) in the sequel that “can do even new and stranger things,” in addition to commenting on the character’s new suit. “For Ant-Man specifically, in that first movie, the suit, intentionally so, is kind of a relic,” the director said. “It represents his past, so this is really the new iteration that is the modern version of the tech.”
Production on the Ant-Man sequel is set to finally begin at the end of the month under the code name of Cherry Blue.
Though word has been slim on Ant-Man and the Wasp’s plot, we’ve learned in recent months that Michael Douglas’ Dr. Hank Pym will indeed return for the film, which recently cast newcomer and Black Mirror alum Hannah John-Kamen.
Star Evangeline Lilly confirmed two months back that she was undergoing costume-fitting, teasing her appearance in the film with an image from the comics.
Opening July 6, 2018, director Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña and Michael Douglas.
