A new Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania TV spot just dropped that focuses on the violent climactic confrontation between Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

Marvel Studios has since uploaded the 30-second promo to YouTube. It includes several previously unseen shots of Scott and Kang doing battle, along with footage included in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's earlier trailers. Kang's overwhelming superiority to Scott is repeatedly referenced in the trailer, as well. The time-traveling baddie describes Ant-Man as "out of [his] league" at one point, while Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) later warns Scott of Kang's ability to "shatter timelines."

Majors discussed the Ant-Man/Kang dynamic in a recent interview, singling out Kang's lack of "frivolity" as a key way in which the two men diverge. "[Kang] understands energy, time, and what is needed to survive," Majors said. "He doesn't suffer fools. Which is interesting because, not to say anything pejorative about Ant-Man, but Ant-Man is a jokester. He's a funny guy. And now you've got Scott Lang going up against Kang the Conqueror, who does not joke. He does have a sense of humor. And you'll discover that. But he does not joke."

Ant-Man 3 Screenwriter Talks Kang

Majors' comments come after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania screenwriter Jeff Loveness previously outlined the threat posed by Kang not just to Scott Lang, but to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe itself. According to Loveness, Kang is a "top-tier, A-list Avengers villain" who will leave the MCU's superheroes doubting their ability to defeat him. The screenwriter added that this was especially true of the less experienced crimefighters introduced during the MCU Phase Four that haven't faced a menace of Kang's magnitude before.

At the same time, Loveness also acknowledged that Kang is hindered by being "a man literally at war against himself" due to his ongoing rivalry with his own multiversal variants. Loveness went on to say that this means that Kang has to weigh his "limitless freedom" against the possibility that his entire world could come crashing down tomorrow. "Is it just going to all fall apart again because another version of him can destroy it as well?" Loveness said. "What's the purpose of building Rome if you are going to burn it down the next day, because they want to have their own Rome?"

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrives in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.
