Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star and Marvel Cinematic Universe newcomer Kathryn Newton delved into her role as Ant-Man's daughter, Cassie Lang.

Newton, who is the third actor to play Cassie in the MCU, opened up about the character in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "What I've felt so far is the fans really love Cassie and I think we're in a new phase of Cassie," she said. "We're seeing a new version of Cassie, and she's changed. She's an independent girl. She's impatient and she desperately wants to use her huge heart for good and kind wants to be like her dad, but she'll never admit it."

This isn't the first time Newton has spoken about Cassie, as she had previously brought up similarities she noticed between herself and Cassie, such as being "super impatient" and wanting to be a hero, but having no idea what she's doing. Newton concluded that Cassie is trying to figure out how to be good while making several mistakes, saying that she's "kind of a mess," much like how Newton sees herself.

Prior to that, Newton hinted at 2022's San Diego Comic-Con that Cassie would have issues as a result of her father being gone for five years due to Thanos. "You find my character Cassie Lang all grown up," she noted. "She's been without her dad because of the Blip for like five years, and she thinks she knows who she is. She's got a love in her heart and she's going after what she thinks is good, but she's making a lot of mistakes, as you do. But she's becoming who she is in this movie."

Moving on over to a darker topic, Newton teased a possible battle between Cassie and Quantumania's villain, Kang the Conqueror, earlier this year. Newton said that Cassie isn't aware of what she's doing and is now "face to face with the biggest supervillain of all time," which will result in her learning a few things, then later made remarks similar to the comparisons that she had previously brought up. "[Cassie's] not ready, but she thinks she is," added Newton. "[...] she doesn't understand what it means to be a hero. She doesn't understand what it's like to deal with a villain. Now, she's face-to-face with Kang and she's gotten all the people she loves in trouble. She had no idea that was going to happen."

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrives in theaters on Feb. 17.
