WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, now streaming on Disney+.

The end credits for Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers feature a clever callback to actor Paul Rudd's cameo in the film.

The meta revival of the original Rescue Rangers television series involves Dale (Andy Samberg) appearing at a convention, which Rudd happens to be signing autographs at as well. Before he is interrupted by the chipmunks on the run, Rudd speaks to his fans about his role as Scott Lang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Ant-Man film, saying, "You know, originally, it was called Aunt Man, A-U-N-T, and my superpower was being really charming to aunts. That's great, isn't it?" In Rescue Rangers' end credit sequence, a promo for Aunt Man starring Rudd is seen.

Though Rudd first appeared in the 2015 solo film, he has returned as Scott Lang in numerous MCU projects that followed, from Captain America: Civil War (2016) through Avengers: Endgame (2019). The next MCU film set to star Rudd alongside Hope Pym actor Evangeline Lilly is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The upcoming sequel will introduce Jonathan Major's Kang the Conqueror after one of his variants appeared in Loki, while also featuring comedy actor Bill Murray in a villain role.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers not only includes cameos of Rudd, but many pop culture references for viewers while poking fun at other properties. For instance, one moment in the film sees Chip (John Mulaney) watching Batman vs. ET, a spoof with Ben Affleck's Dark Knight from Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice where he fights the friendly alien from Steven Spielberg's E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982).

One of the most meta character inclusions is Ugly Sonic. One of the convention guests is none other than the horrifying design originally intended for 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog, who plays a surprisingly prominent role in Rescue Rangers and is made fun of for his human teeth more than once. After fan backlash to this character design when Sonic the Hedgehog's first trailer released, the film redesigned the protagonist to look more like how he does in the popular video game franchise, but Ugly Sonic does finally make it to the screen in Rescue Rangers.

Aside from Mulaney and Samberg, Rescue Rangers stars many other talent icons, including Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, Will Arnett, Kiki Layne and more. The film is now available to stream on Disney+. As for Rudd's next outing at Ant-Man (not Aunt Man), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.
