The power of Pac-Man nostalgia wasn't enough to beat Marvel Studios this weekend as "Ant-Man" crossed the $100 millon mark in domestic box office after ten days in theaters.

Deadline reports on the weekend box office where director Peyton Reed and star Paul Rudd's quirky take on the shrinking superhero held its #1 place with $24.77 million in sales. That's down 57% from its opening weekend -- an average drop for a big superhero film -- but was still strong enough to take the picture over the $100 million mark with room to spare.

That strong performance came at least in part thanks to the low performance of the weekend's other supposed nerd culture debut: Adam Sandler's video game comedy "Pixels." The movie cost $88 million to produce but only brought in around $23.7 million domestically -- placing it with other ummer flops like "Terminator: Genysis" and "Tomorrowland."

Elsewhere in the weekend, animated hit "Minions" brought in $22.05 million in third place for a three-week total of $261.6 million while comedy "Trainwreck" earned $17.28 million in fourth for a 10-day draw of $61.5 million. New debut "Southpaw" rounded out the top five in a smaller release with $16.5 million on a $25 million budget.

For "Ant-Man," the next major test will be how quickly it crosses $500 million internationally, though expectations will place it in the middle of the pack of Marvel Studios movies -- closer to the "Thor" films and well beyond "The Incredible Hulk."
