A new still from Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania provides fans with a closer look at Hope van Dyne’s upgraded Wasp costume.

The official photo, released by Empire, features actor Evangeline Lilly wearing The Wasp’s signature black and yellow colors from the comics. Compared to her previous costume in 2018’s Ant-Man and The Wasp and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Hope’s Quantumania suit is more bright and distinct, which not only makes her stand out but also suitably compliments Scott Lang’s red costume. The photo doesn't show off The Wasp's iconic wings but the trailers have confirmed they will still be a part of the costume.

Evangeline Lilly is portraying the role of The Wasp in Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania.

After finally getting her mother back from the Quantum Realm, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is expected to explore Hope’s renewed relationship with Janet van Dyne, as she discovers dark secrets about how her mother survived in the sub-atomic universe for 30 years. Lilly also expressed her excitement at getting the chance to show Hope’s character evolution "from a caged-off woman to a woman who has opened her heart three separate times. One, her heart to Scott, and then her reparations with her father, and then bringing her mother back from the Quantum Realm."

Ant-Man 3’s Role in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga

After being often dubbed as a "palate cleanser" for Avengers movies, Marvel is giving the Ant-Man franchise an opportunity to shine, as Quantumania becomes a central figure in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige explained the reason why the upcoming threequel was chosen to kick off Phase Five, revealing that Ant-Man has already "earned that position to not simply be the back-up or the comic relief, but to take his position at the front of the podium of the MCU."

In addition to the return of stars Lilly, Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer, Quantumania will also feature the introduction of MCU newcomers Kathryn Newton and Jonathan Majors. Newton is set to portray the role of Cassie Lang, who was formerly played by Abby Ryder Fortson and Emma Fuhrmann. The movie's trailers confirmed the young superhero will be donning her own shrinking suit, leading many to believe she'll eventually take on the role of Stature.

Meanwhile, Majors is finally making his long-awaited debut as Kang the Conqueror, who’s expected to become the main villain of The Multiverse Saga. As seen in the previously released Quantumania trailer, he’ll try to convince Ant-Man to join forces with him in an attempt to escape the Quantum Realm. Majors has opened up about his character by teasing the danger he poses to the MCU’s overall way of life.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is slated to arrive in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.
