Michael Douglas, the actor who recently reprised his role as Hank Pym in Ant-Man and the Wasp, has reiterated that the Quantum Realm will play a key role in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"I mean, all of them. I mean, the Quantum Realm, that's the key. That's the key," he said to On Air with Ryan Seacrest. "The Quantum Realm plays an important part in all the next chapters, I think, of the Marvel films."
The Quantum Realm, otherwise known as the Microverse, first appeared in 2015's Ant-Man and was further explored in this year's sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, which reiterated that it did indeed act as a gateway to the multiverse. The follow-up ended with Team Pym killed by Thanos, although speculation has it that Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) could exploit time vortices while trapped inside the Quantum Realm to save the day in Avengers 4.
With Earth's Mightiest Heroes also getting suit upgrades that bear an uncanny resemblance to Pym Tech, many believe the Avengers will be using the realm, not just to travel through time to stop the Mad Titan, but also to explore rifts and move through other dimensions.
