Ant-Man and the Wasp Director 'Dreams' of Bringing Fantastic Four to the MCU

Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed has made it clear it's a dream of his to helm a Fantastic Four movie if it ever comes into play for the MCU.

It seems one Marvel Studios director has joined the chorus of fans who are hoping the Disney and 21st Century Fox merger goes through so the Fantastic Four can become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed has big dreams of being able to helm the story of Marvel's First Family if the opportunity arises.

"Well, I have been known to mention Fantastic Four in conversations that may or may not have happened in the Marvel hallways," he said in an interview with CinemaBlend.

"It's all a giant question mark at this point, because no one knows if this merger is going to happen. It was on, it was off, it was on... who knows. I guess I can dream, right? I can have the dream. We'll see. Time will tell!"

With Comcast yet to respond to Disney recently upping its bid to buy out Fox, fans will have to remain patient before the MCU can fully integrate the Fantastic Four into a feature film franchise alongside the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.

With that in mind, given Reed's ability to blend themes of family amid comedy and action, with the Ant-Man franchise being a prime example, he would certainly be an interesting option for bringing the heroes to life in Phase Four.

Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and The Wasp stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen, Randall Park, and Walton Goggins. The film arrives in theaters on July 6.
