Actor Michael Douglas teased fans with some details about his role as Hank Pym in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Douglas held a Q&A session on his Instagram page for MCU fans on Feb. 19. Among several answered questions, Douglas told fans when filming is expected to start for the third Ant-Man film. "To the best of my knowledge, we’re going to start filming this year," Douglas said.
Douglas also shared his enthusiasm for reprising his MCU role as Hank Pym. "Yeah, I love Hank Pym," he said. "I love any character that's got all the answers," he added. "And I love being a part of this whole Marvel world, that I knew nothing about... I was not a comic guy. I really got a kick out of learning the whole logistic history of the Avengers."
The Oscar-winning actor ended his Q&A thanking fans, noting, "I promise to answer more soon. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and stay safe!"
Actors Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly will reprise their respective roles as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Hope van Dyne/The Wasp in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film will also see the returns of Douglas as Hank Pym and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne. Actor Kathryn Newton, however, will take over the role of Cassie Lang from Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp's Abby Ryder Fortson and Avengers: Endgame's Emma Fuhrmann. Peyton Reed's third Ant-Man film will also feature the MCU debut of Kang the Conqueror.
Although Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumani's plot has been kept under wraps, Reed shared hints of a larger world in the upcoming film, noting, "There’s some really really really exciting things in store, none of which of course I could speak to you about right now, as is the Marvel way." He added, "I think the third Ant-Man movie is going to be a much bigger, more sprawling movie than the first two. It’s going to have a very different visual template."
Directed by Peyton Reed, Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. The film will release sometime in 2022.
