Marvel Studios released an official Quantumania trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July which offered the first look at how the iconic supervillain will appear in the MCU, though he only appeared in a blink-and-miss-it moment and had no dialogue. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, MODOK made his first full appearance in Marvel Comics in Tales of Suspense #94 in 1967. The villain will be portrayed in Quantumania by Corey Stoll, who previously appeared as the villain Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man.

Quantumania is poised to kick off Phase 5 of the MCU when it opens in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023. Marvel Studios released the first official trailer for Quantumania in October, which offered a look at Paul Rudd's reprisal of his MCU role as Scott Lang/Ant-Man. Not only that, but the trailer introduced Jonathan Majors as the MCU's newest supervillain, Kang the Conqueror. While plot details for Quantumania remain scarce, the trailer showed that Scott and his family will find themselves forced to work with Kang to escape the Quantum Realm.

Ant-Man 3 Is an Avengers-Level Movie

In a previous interview, director Peyton Reed explained that he sees the third Ant-Man movie as an Avengers-level story. "People felt like, 'Oh, these are fun little palate cleansers after a gigantic Avengers movie,'" said Reed. "For this third one, I said, 'I don't want to be the palate cleanser anymore. I want to be the big Avengers movie.'"

Reed also revealed in July that the third Ant-Man film will have major repercussions on the MCU and will be essential viewing going forward. "The energy was great," he said. "And yeah, kicking off Phase 5 is really exciting for us, because we're the Ant-Man movies. It's our third movie. It's this trilogy now. But things happen in this movie that are going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe permanently. And it's fun for us that Scott Lang is at the center of that change."

Quantumania will also introduce Majors as the MCU's newest supervillain. The actor made his official debut in the MCU in Season 1 of Loki on Disney+ as He Who Remains, a variant of Kang. While he will reprise the role for Quantumania, he will also star as the main antagonist in Avengers: Kang Dynasty in May 2025. Kang Dynasty will act as the penultimate installment to the MCU's Phase 6, whcih will conclude with Avengers: Secret Wars in May 2026.
