The Ant-Man films thus far have told smaller-scale stories than the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but a Marvel Studios executive recently teased that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to be bigger in scope.

In a conversation with One Take News, Werewolf by Night producer and Quantumania creative executive Brian Gay explained, "At the moment, one thing I enjoyed about this movie is we’ve always joked that Ant-Man movies go small but this one’s going to go big!"

Gay referenced the Quantumania D23 panel in which numerous characters were confirmed to be returning, such as WandaVision alum Jimmy Woo. "We were able to show some things at D23, and we will have more coming in the fall and of course ahead of the premiere early next year." A trailer for the movie has yet to be released, although a trailer featuring Bill Murray was shown privately at SDCC 2022. A specific date for the trailer has yet to be announced beyond a general fall premiere.

The producer rounded off his thoughts on Quantumania by mentioning the completed family dynamic now that Kathryn Newton will be joining the MCU as an older Cassie Lang. "But I will say it’s fun to have the whole family back, and they’re gonna go on quite a big adventure that I think it’s going to feel like a real departure from the previous films." That whole family consists of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp, Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne.

Where Is Ant-Man Taking Us?

Details concerning the next Ant-Man film are scarce. However, it is known Johnathan Majors is set to play the film's villain Kang the Conqueror, a variant of He Who Remains, who Majors played in the Disney+ series, Loki. It was his death in the show's finale that set up the multiverse, as well as Kang's upcoming appearance in both Quantumania and the previously announced Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to kick off Phase 5 of the MCU, followed by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Blade, Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts. Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige previously teased the ongoing Phase 4 has planted seeds for the next leg's overarching plot. He teased, "I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going. But we'll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap."

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to premiere in theatres on Feb. 17, 2023.
