According to Ant-Man and the Wasp co-star Evangeline Lilly, a third film in the action-comedy film series entirely depends on the success of the latest film from a box office standpoint.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Lilly was asked if Ant-Man 3 was a sure thing, to which the Lord of the Rings alum asserted it was not.

"At this point, my understanding is that we need to get butts in the theater seats again if we're going to have another film," Lilly said. "So if everyone gets out and watches it then I would assume we'll have another one. I hope we'll have another one, because I really want to do it again, but I don't know right now."

Marvel is notoriously quick for green-lighting sequels to its films, but if you pay close attention it's usually when it becomes abundantly clear one of those films is a box office smash. It remains to be seen if Ant-Man and the Wasp will deliver -- but if reviews are any indication, there's nothing to worry about.
