This November, "Black Canary" artist Annie Wu and newcomer Veronica Fish will join writer Mark Waid on the main "Archie" title and take over art duties from "Saga's" Fiona Staples.

Staples and colorists Andrew Szymanowicz and Jen Vaughn will continue through "Archie" #3, with Wu taking over on "Archie" #4 for a one issue story and Fish jumping on for issues #5 and #6.

"Annie has the perfect handle on these characters and we're lucky to have her come in for a special, one-issue story," Archie Comics President Mike Pellerito said in a statement. "Annie's a unique and versatile talent and really the perfect person to step in and showcase these characters in a new way, while still holding true to the foundation Fiona put in place."

"Veronica's a real hidden gem," he added. "Mark my words -- she'll be a star before she's done working on these two issues."

Of "Archie" artist Fiona Staples, Pellerito said, "She not only nailed the style, but also got to the core of each character... Archie, Jughead, Betty, Kevin, Reggie, Midge, Veronica and so on. Just perfect. Fiona was, hands down, the perfect artist to launch this series, and it shows."

BoingBoing also unveiled a special variant cover of Wu's "Archie" #4 by "Love and Rockets" creator Jaime Hernandez, which borrows from the character's classic style.

According to the issue's solicitation for "Archie" #4, "The biggest comic series of the year continues! What was the 'lipstick incident' that pushed Archie and Betty apart? And can the smartest boy in Riverdale fix it? The spotlight is on Dilton and Moose as, together, they show what friendship is really all about! We're pleased to welcome ANNIE WU (BLACK CANARY, HAWKEYE) to Riverdale, as she takes over art duties in this brand new issue!"

"Archie" #4 by Mark Waid and Annie Wu will be available in comic book stores and digitally this November.
