Actor Annie Wersching has passed away. She was 45 years old.

Per Deadline, Wersching was diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2020 and continued to work up until her death. Her husband, actor Stephen Full, issued the following statement: "There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn't require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. 'Go find it. It’s everywhere.' And find it we shall. As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie. 'I love you little family...'"

Wersching's breakout role was as FBI special agent Renee Walker in Seasons 7 and 8 of 24. Jon Cassar, who worked as a director and executive producer on the series, also paid tribute to Wersching. "My heart is broken in more pieces than I can count," he wrote. "Annie came into my world with an open heart and a contagious smile. Brandishing such talent, she took my breath away. Annie became more than a workmate, she became a real friend to me, my family and every cast and crew member that worked with her. She'll be truly missed by them and the fans she always found time to interact with. Annie you'll be missed, you left your mark, and we’re all the better for it."

In addition to 24, Wersching was known for her roles as police officer Julia Brasher on Bosch, cult leader Leslie Dean on Marvel's Runaways and the Borg Queen on Star Trek: Picard, taking over the role from Alice Krige. Wersching also had prominent roles in video games, providing voice and motion capture for covert agent Tassyn in Anthem and smuggler Tess in The Last of Us, with Anna Torv playing the character in the current HBO Max series.

Wersching was born in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Milikun University in 1999. She is survived by her husband and their three sons Freddie, Ozzie and Archie. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support her family.
