Anne Rice, author of the Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair Witches book series, has entered a deal with AMC Networks to adapt her books for multiple television series. AMC's projects using the intellectual property will exist in a shared universe, allowing stories to cross over as they do in Rice's books.

There are a total of 18 titles covered by the deal. They include Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned, both of which have been adapted to film in the past, with 1994's Interview with the Vampire, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, remaining a particular favorite among horror fans. However, this is the first time that Rice's work will be adapted to television, although she has made attempts at it in the past. Most recently, Hulu had plans to develop a series based on the books with Bryan Fuller as showrunner, but the project did not progress after 2018.

Rice will be serving as an executive producer on all of AMC's projects based on her work, along with her son and sometime collaborator, author Christopher Rice. Rolin Jones will also be involved in developing the potential movies and films.

Anne Rice called the deal "one of the most significant and thrilling deals of my long career,” and said that it has always been her dream “to see the worlds of my two biggest series united under a single roof so that filmmakers could explore the expansive and interconnected universe of my vampires and witches."
