The popular sci-fi book series Animorphs, by Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant, is being adapted to film by Scholastic, in partnership with Erik Feig and Picturestart. Scholastic Entertainment's Iole Lucchese and Caitlin Friedman, along with Picturestart's Feig and Lucy Kitada, are attached to produce the upcoming film.

Lucchese stated, "The central themes of Animorphs have resonated strongly with kids for more than two decades, and the time is right for a feature film that takes this captivating sci-fi adventure to another level for audiences today." She then praised Picturstart's successful past and added, "Erik and his team are the perfect partners to help bring this exciting new series based on the adventure-packed books to movie screens."

Scholastic also intends to release a retro tin box this fall, containing the first six novels in the series. Additionally, there are plans to release a graphic novel adaptation of the Animorphs book series through Scholastic Graphix. The first novel, The Invasion, is being adapted by Chris Gine.

Animorphs began as a series of successful novels released between 1996 and 2001. The series revolved around five teenagers, Jake, Marco, Cassie, Rachel and Tobias, and their alien ally, Ax; all caught in a covert war on Earth against the slug-like aliens, Yeerks. The novels spawned one live-action series and several video games.
