Fans of Animorphs can now see the first few pages of the series' anticipated graphic novel.

Adapted by Eisner Award-nominated cartoonist Chris Grine, the new comic is based on the popular 1990s books of the same name, written by K.A. Applegate and Michael Grant. Titled Animorphs: The Invasion, the graphic novel is set for release on October 6. The entire project was scripted, drawn, colored and lettered by Grine, who is a self-confessed fan of the story. Check out the cover and some of the pages below:

"It's a huge relief to finally be able to share what I've been working on over the last year," Grine told AV Club. "I love this series and I can't wait to share it with the fans who have been wanting this to happen for so long."

"We are very excited by this opportunity to bring Animorphs to a new readership," said K.A. Applegate and Michael Grant. "Morph to your favorite battling beast and join the resistance to Yeerk domination!" Grant has previously noted on Twitter that he is unsure if "they [are] following the books from the beginning. That seems to be the plan. We aren't writing them, but what I've seen so far is quite faithful to the original."

The Animorphs saga follows five humans and one alien who possess the ability to transform into any animal they touch on their quest to stop an alien infiltration of Earth. The story was originally told across 54 books, published between 1996 and 2001. The popularity of the novels led to Nickelodeon producing a TV show based on the property which ran for two seasons.
