Most anime characters are pretty fashion-forward, and their iconic looks make them stand out in the best way. However, not all characters are nicely dressed.
Some anime characters even have some of the worst fashion sense imaginable. Whether they're trying to be as unique as possible or they simply just don't care about looks, many characters have committed some heinous fashion crimes over the years and become infamous for their disastrous outfits.

She appears before the boys looking completely disheveled, to the point where they initially mistake her for a boy herself.
Haruhi has no time or patience for fashion, with her focus completely on her studies instead. As a result, she leaves outfit picking to the hosts and her dad, which is really the only reason she looks so cute most of the time. If it were up to her, she'd probably still be wearing that awful sweater from the beginning.

None of the Matsuno brothers in Osomatsu-san are exactly fashion icons, but some of them at least have a little style. Karamatsu, on the other hand, is likely the worst offender of the sextuplets. His sense of style is nothing short of gaudy, filled with flashy fabrics, sequins, and ridiculous sunglasses.
Karamatsu wants to stand out above all else, and he does exactly that, for better or worse. His fashion choices are so bad that even his brothers call him out on them. At the very least, it makes him easy to pick out among his brothers and gives him some individuality.

Plenty of characters in the Digimon franchise need a little help when it comes to style, but few even come close to Joe's level of fashion disaster. While it's true Joe is the nerdy guy of the group, he doesn't have to own it so much. Luckily, he seems to grow into this look as he ages, and once he's an adult, it actually suits him.

There are a lot of ridiculously dressed characters in the Danganronpa franchise, but Hifumi Yamada undoubtedly takes the cake. He's another character with the classic dork look, with his tucked-in button-up shirt, comically large tie, and needlessly tight pants.
To top it all off, Hifume's got one of the strangest hairstyles out of the original students as well, slicking it up into a perfect point on the top of his head. Even other Naruto characters have pointed out the ridiculousness of their fashion, often placing the duo into a more comical role by comparison. However, that doesn't get these two down, and they wear their suits with pride no matter what. Despite the odd looks they get from others, it's commendable that they can be so authentically themselves and a testament to their inner strength.

1 Tsunagu's Hero Costume Is Laughably Absurd

My Hero Academia is filled with many colorful heroes, all decked out in the craziest costumes imaginable. However, few are quite as crazy as the hero costume of Tsunagu Hakamada, otherwise known as Best Jeanist. In battle, he wears denim jeans from head to toe, complete with a high collar that covers most of his face.
Tsunagu's outfit is one of the silliest costumes in the entire series and in no way gives him the vibe of a hero. However, given his quirk, this strange outfit does make a lot of sense, and it works well with his powers. It's just a shame it doesn't look more heroic.
