Though his lineage and relationship to Lord Death are a bit unorthodox (he is said to be made from a part of Death rather than being a traditional offspring), he is still very much treated as Lord Death's spawn.
Death is at the top of his class, and he expects to take over for his father when the time comes, making him a true god of Death too.
