Romance anime can be one of the most heartwarming and entertaining genres, with captivating stories that grab your attention from minute one. Stories of love are always interesting to observe, as matters of the heart can often feel so very personal, even if it isn't necessarily your heart on the line.
Anime can often do a wonderful job of making these romance stories become narratives that are larger than life. These characters often have dynamic personalities, which can often lead to many stumbling blocks, either an attempt to get into a relationship or in order to maintain an already existing one.
10 WAITING IN THE SUMMER
On a mysterious day, Kaito Kirishima is testing out his camera on a bridge when a blinding light flashes across his camera. This sudden action causes him to be knocked off the railings of the bridge. Much to Kaito's surprise, he wakes up in his room next day and is unharmed. Kaito returns to school and his friends decide that it would be great to use his camera over the upcoming summer break to make a movie. This leads to an exciting summer for all parties involved, with some even developing romantic attraction towards each other.
9 SAY "I LOVE YOU"
Mei Tachibana has a long history of avoiding others. It all started back when she was wrongfully blamed the death of a class pet by her friends. Since then, Mei has lived by the words "friends will only let you down", but this is all flipped on its head when she encounters Yamato Kurosawa. Yamato pursues a friendship with Mei but, initially, she isn't very interested. After his consistent attempts, the two grow closer together. Some time afterwards, they begin dating and, at this point, Mei must develop in order to overcome the challenges associated with being in a relationship.
8 HIS AND HER CIRCUMSTANCE
Yukino Miyazawa is one of the most famous students at her school. This is due to her exceptional grades, athleticism and highly sociable personality. She works incredibly hard to maintain the air of superiority but, despite this, there is one person that she has so far been incapable of outshining.
This person is Soichiro Arima, the male class representative who Yukino is highly envious of. The two go on to have great rivalry, where they compete at almost everything. One day, Soichiro visits Yukino and finally discovers her true personality. After this comes to light, he blackmails Yukino into assisting with the student council's work. After spending more time together, the two begin to truly understand each other.

Hikari Hanazono has always excelled at anything she tried her hands at, which led to her having extremely high confidence in her abilities. Hikari would regularly challenge others and would always come out victorious, that is, until she encountered Kei Takishima. After challenging Kei, Hikari loses and, upon challenging him again, she continues to lose. This angers Hikari, who then swears to surpass him in every conceivable category. She goes on to attend the prestigious Hakusenkan where she reunites with Kei and the two become the top two students in their class. Hikari continues her rivalry with Kei, oblivious to his romantic attention towards her.
6 NISEKOI
Nisekoi follows the daily life of Raku Ichijou, as he comes to grips with the sudden changes in his high school life. After a new gang moves into town, conflict develops between Raku's Yakuza family and the Bee Hive gang. To bring this conflict to an end, both family leaders decide that Raku and Chitoge (the two heirs) should begin dating. The two go along with the plan, but they struggle to get along with each other. Raku gets involved with several girls throughout the series, all in an attempt to find the girl to whom he had promised his heart during his younger years.
5 PLASTIC MEMORIES
SAI Corp is responsible for creating androids that are known as Giftias. These beings closely resemble humans and it is basically impossible to tell the difference between a regular human and a Giftias with the naked eye. After failing his college entrance exams, Tsukasa Mizugaki manages to get a job working at SAI Corp. He is then paired with a talented Giftias and the two grow to become very close. Unfortunately for Tsukasa, Giftias only live for 9 years and four months, meaning that Tsukasa must use the remaining time he has with Isla before its too late.
4 MONTHLY GIRLS NOZAKI-KUN
Chiyo Sakura is your typical high school teenager, somewhat obsessed with the concept of love and romance. She's deeply in love with Umetarou Nozaki.
Despite being a teenager, Umetarou is already an established Shoujo artist and, despite Chiyo's constant attempts to communicate her feelings, Umetarou remains oblivious about her true feelings for him. Eventually, Chiyo goes on to become one of Umetarou's assistants, where she dutifully carries out here duties, hoping that he will one day notice her feelings for him.
3 CHILD'S TOY
Sana Kurata is a popular child actor. She came into prominence due to her role on the program, Kodomo No Omocha. Her mother is a successful author, who can afford to have her daughter living a happy childhood. Sana's life seems to be all perfect, but she is haunted by one particular problem, a young boy named Akito. Akito has recently started to display delinquent behavior and his male counterparts have started to repeat his actions. This leads to a constant battle between the boys and girls in the class. The constant conflict brings Sana and Akito closer together and, before long, Sana realizes that there is much more to Akito than his delinquent behavior.

After becoming the first-ever female student council president, Misaki Ayuzawa is given the nickname "Demon President", due to her disciplinarian style. Misaki uses her advanced knowledge of Aikido to levy out punishments to those who go against the rules. Despite her hard exterior, Misaki is hiding a rather delicate secret; she works at a Maid Cafe in order to assist her struggling family with bills. One day, Takumi Usui wonders into the cafe and discovers Misaki's secret. From that day on, the two would begin to interact more and more and, as they did so, they slowly began to see each other for who they truly are.
