10 Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend .flat

How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend .flat is the second season in the Saekano series. Released during the spring 2017 season, the anime is a harem-comedy anime. Different from most harem anime, the protagonist Tomoya Aki doesn’t take too much interest in the girls around him except for one: Megumi Katou.

His goal is to create a visual novel with Megumi as the heroine. He teams up with Utaha Kasumigaoka, an established writer, and Eriri Sawamura, a gifted artist, to create his visual novel. The anime features minor fan service, but it doesn’t steer the show away from its amazing character development.

9 Fist of the North Star

Your probably familiar with the phrase, “Omae wa mou Shindeiru” if you’ve been watching anime for a long enough time. The iconic phrase comes from Fist of the North Star, an action-martial arts anime.

The show is set in a post-apocalyptic world where Kenshirou is searching for his rival, Shin and lover, Yuria. Along the way Kenshirou faces many challenges and must use Hokuto Shinken, a form of martial art.

8 Toradora!

Toradora!

Released during the fall 2008 season, Toradora! is a rom-com school life anime. Ryuuji Takasu is a high school student known for his intimidating looks. Alongside one of anime’s most well know tsundere, Taiga Aisaka also attends the high school.

Ryuuji and Taiga have a crush on each other’s best friends, but have trouble telling their respected love interest. The two agree to try and help each other but learn things over the time they spend together. This prompts them to question if who they really want to be with is who they should be with.

Toradora! ran for 25 episodes.

7 Dororo

Dororo asks us the question of what means more, humanity or morality. Released during the winter 2019 season, Dororo is a historical adventure anime. Originally released during the spring 1969 season as Dororo and Hyakkimaru, Dororo follows protagonist, Hyakkimaru.

Hyakkimaru’s limbs were sacrificed to 12 demons at birth by his father in exchange for power. His arms were then replaced with swords by a doctor who found Hyakkimaru in a river shortly after. Teaming up with the orphan girl Dororo, Hyakkimaru searches for the 12 demons to get his body back. However, as he recovers more of himself, he’s really losing who he is.

Dororo ran for 25 episodes.

6 After the Rain

Released during the winter 2018 season, After the Rain is a seinen-romance anime. The story follows Akira Tachibana, a high school student that ran for the track team. After injuring her foot she was forced to quit track. Working at the Garden Café, Akira crushes on her 45-year-old manager Masami Kondou.

While this kind of relationship can seem taboo, Akira decides to confess her love to Masami anyways.

After the Rain ran for 12 episodes.

5 Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku

A self-aware anime of what it is like for two Otaku to date each other, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is a rom-com slice of life anime.

The show follows the interconnected lives of four characters: Hirotaka Nifuji, known for watching anime and playing games. Narumi Momose, known for for reading manga and her fashion sense. Hanako Koyanagi, a cosplayer with an obsession of boys love and Tarou Kabakura, a closet otaku who’s adventuring more into the otaku scene. The four balance their work and casual lives trying not to seem too much like an otaku in public.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku aired during the spring 2018 season and ran for 11 episodes.

4 Girls Last Tour

Released during the fall 2017 season, Girls Last Tour is an adventure-slice of life anime. The show takes in the future of a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has almost all dispersed. Two girls, Chito and Yuuri are one of the last remaining humans around.

Having grown up in the post-apocalyptic world, Chito and Yuuri don’t have the normal skills that girls they have typically have, but posses a new set of skills that help them live. The two adventure throughout the world with no other goal than to just stay alive.

Girls Last Tour is a humanizing anime that ran for 12 episodes.

3 Banana Fish

A boys-love story that has memorable characters, a great story, and heart-jerking moments. This anime is sure to make you cry. Banana Fish is an action-drama anime following Aslan Jade Callenreese known as Ash Lynx, a gang leader in New York City. Because of his good looks Ash has fetishized by corporate man Dino Golzine.

When a group of journalists visit New York City to cover gang activity from Japan, they get caught up with a drug epidemic known as Banana Fish. Eiji Okumura, one of the journalists, takes a liking to Ash and unintentionally gets himself involved with his gang.

Banana Fish aired during the summer 2018 season and ran for 24 episodes.

2 Made in Abyss

Made in Abyss won best anime at the 2018 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. The fantasy-adventure anime was released during the summer 2017 season.

The story follows Riko, whose searching for her mother. Riko’s mother was one of the greatest adventurers and is thought to still be at the bottom of the abyss. In the abyss, Riko meets a robot she names Reg. Reg helps her search for her mother as the two adventure into the depths of the abyss.

Made in Abyss ran for 13 episodes.

1 Vinland Saga

Vinland Saga is airing during the current fall 2019 season of anime. Starting in the summer 2019 season, Vinland Saga is a historical-action anime. The story follows Thorfinn, a boy who wants to avenge his father as he gets stronger. However, his father was against war and wanted to teach Thorfinn the weight of killing.

Thorfinn ignores everything he’s been taught so that he can avenge his father. Thorfinn must undergo tests of strength, heart, and courage if he wants to reach his goal.

Vinland Saga is projected to be 24 episodes and finish during this fall 2019 season.
