However, some characters specifically hunt down monsters as part of their main duties for varying reasons, from revenge to just defending humanity for the sake of it. Even though he was mocked by other adventurers for only taking quests involving killing any goblins, he was extremely efficient at his job. He knew how to take down groups of goblins, had a working knowledge of how they used their hideouts to take down unsuspecting adventurers trying to slay them for the first time, and he recognized when there were larger goblin attacks on the horizon so he could warn villages or recruit other adventurers to assist him with taking them down. Considering how dangerous goblins are in Goblin Slayer, it made sense that Goblin Slayer tried killing as many as he could.

His determination to get stronger to protect his Familia and get better as an adventurer helped him grow and become a formidable warrior. Unfortunately for him, this made gods such as Freya obsessed with eventually taking him for their own selfish purposes in the long run.

Levi was known as humanity's greatest soldier in Attack On Titan and was the Special Operations Squad Captain within the Survey Corps.
He was a tough but strong leader as captain of the Special Operations Squad, and he killed many Titans. Even though he cannot transform into a Titan as Eren can, his extensive experience in the field and the skills he honed made him a worthy rival and surpassed Eren in battle skills and being a great tactician.

Despite being a vampire, Alucard killed other vampires in Hellsing. However, this was not because he liked humanity. Instead, it was to save himself from being hunted down. Another major reason he hunted his kind was so he could enjoy the bloody fruits of combat for himself since he enjoyed humiliating his targets before completely killing them. It was later revealed that he was originally known as Count Dracula, whose life was spared after he was defeated by Abraham Van Helsing and swore loyalty to the Hellsing family as their servant.

Naofumi and his friends, including Raphtalia, ended up having to defeat the Waves of Calamity in The Rising Of The Shield Hero. Since the Waves of Calamity often emerged as strong, powerful monsters, this meant that Naofumi had to fight them regularly. Even though he was mainly equipped with a shield and called "The Shield Hero" thanks to his lack of offensive capabilities, he eventually got revenge on the princess and others who wronged him throughout his journey.

Tanjiro joined the Demon Slayer Corps to find a way to turn her back into a human and to prevent others from suffering the same fate as he did.
3 Clare Hunts Down Youma And Seeks Revenge (Claymore)
Clare from Claymore is one of the titular Claymores that are human and yoma hybrids. Since Claymores were the only beings that can defeat the yoma for good, Clare ended up regularly hunting down yoma to defend herself and everyone else she met from the yoma's threats. After she inherited Teresa's flesh and blood, she gained the ability to sense the Yoki in opponents to predict their movement, making it easier to outsmart and defeat them.
This twenty-six-episode series followed Clare not just destroying the yoma and trying to hunt down Priscilla for killing Teresa, but also her saving a young boy named Raki and forming a close bond with him.
2 Lenka Utsugi Kills The Aragami Regularly (God Eater)
Lenka Utsugi was recruited by the Far East Branch to become a New-Type God Eater. As a God Eater, his sole ambition was to destroy all of the treacherous Aragami that threatened humanity. He often risked his life to save others from the evil Aragami's attacks, no matter how dangerous the mission was at the time. His compatibility with the Oracle Cells made him a strong fighter, but it also meant that he could speed up his death by using his abilities too much. Despite the potential risk of dying from overusing his powers, however, Lenka hoped to do what he could before his demise and pass on hope to the next generation of God Eaters if he died before the Aragami were wiped out.
1 Yume Was Part Of A Group Of Adventurers That Hunted Monsters (Grimgar Of Fantasy And Ash)
Yume was one of the members of a group of adventurers that regularly hunted monsters. She was the main Hunter out of the entire group. Despite lacking skill in archery at the beginning even though Hunters traditionally were archers, she gained experience throughout Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash and got much better at killing goblins and other beasts with a bow and arrow. She also trained in the machete and shortsword so she could also kill her opponents up close. This, coupled with her teamwork with the rest of her group, made her a formidable monster hunter.
