For most anime characters, death is something to be feared and avoided. It often signifies the end of everything, where one can no longer enjoy the thrill of battle, spend time with their loved ones, or experience the many wonders of the world.

But there are some heroes who don't fear dying. In some universes, dying rarely means the end and resurrection is entirely possible. Other characters are practically immortal and so dying is not something they have to worry about. And others understand death as the natural and inevitable process it is, and accept it peacefully when the time comes.

10 Netero Proved To Be Fearless In His Dying Moments (Hunter X Hunter)

For a time, Isaac Netero was the strongest man alive and therefore never really had to worry about death. This is the man who travelled to the Dark Continent and survived without injury. He could throw a punch faster than the speed of sound, and even the remarkable Zeno Zoldyck acknowledged Netero as his superior.

However, he met his match in the form of the Ant King Meruem, finding the durability of the ant too vast to overcome. But in his last moments, he remained steadfast and reminded the ant of the power humans could obtain. He then detonated the bomb in his heart without flinching.

9 L Understood How Dangerous Kira Was And Still Chose To Reveal Himself (Death Note)

L's intelligence was so remarkable that he could solve the most difficult cases from the safety of his computer screen. But Kira proved too tough of a task to overcome, and L was forced to reveal himself to Light Yagami in order to catch the fellow genius out.

This proved that L was willing to die for the cause, and he acknowledged that, by revealing his identity, he had already lost the battle. As the case progressed and L moved closer to the truth, he knew he would die by Light's hands, but trusted the next generation to use his work and catch Kira.

8 Goku Has Already Died Several Times (Dragon Ball Z)

In some universes, death isn't always the end. That's especially the case in Dragon Ball Z, where Goku has died on several occasions with few long-lasting consequences. He first died when sacrificing himself in order to kill his brother Raditz, and was brought back to life with the Dragon Balls.

He was later killed again by Cell's self-destruct, this time relying on Old Kai to give him his life. Goku's love for battle and carefree personality means it's highly probable he wouldn't fear death even if it was final. But fortunately for Goku, dying is nothing more than a temporary nuisance.

7 Julius Novachrono Utilized Time Magic To Return To Life (Black Clover)

During his battle with Patri, Julius happily gave his life to save the citizens of the Clover Kingdom, knowing there wasn't a better use for his magic. Julius died with a smile on his face whilst in the arms of Yami Sukehiro, a mage he befriended and mentored throughout his magical career.

But maybe Julius seemed so happy because he knew it wasn't the end. Thanks to a magical item and the unique nature of his time magic, Julius successfully stored 13 years worth of time and returned as a teenage boy. Comforted by the fact he had a trump card to play, Julius had no reason to fear dying.

6  Thors Died A True Warriors Death (Vinland Saga)

Thors was the father of protagonist Thorfinn and the strongest Viking in the world. He gave up a life of pillaging and killing to start a family in the remote country of Iceland. However, he couldn't hide from his past forever and was requested by the Vikings to assist in battle. This request turned out to be a trap, and Thors, along with his young son and other Icelandics, were ambushed by Askeladd and his men.

Thors defeated Askeladd in a duel, but the complex antagonist decided to have his men kill Thors anyway. Thors agreed to die honorably if Akeladd let his son and men go, to which he agreed. The noble hero gladly gave his life in order to save the lives of others, dying a true warriors death.

5 Alucard Is Practically Immortal (Hellsing)

Unlike most characters on this list, death isn't really an option for Alucard. The Vampire King is as close to immortal as one can be. His durability is immense, effortlessly recovering from decapitation and a knife through the heart. Additionally, Alucard can use the souls inside him to return to life and recover from wounds that surpass his regeneration capacity.

Maybe the only way to kill him is to do so a million times over, forcing him to use up the army of souls he has collected over his lifetime, and even that's not a guaranteed successful strategy. Alucard has no reason to fear that which cannot happen.

4  Emma Is More Concerned With The Others Lives Than Her Own (The Promised Neverland)

Emma is one of the protagonists of The Promised Neverland and one of the most selfless individuals in anime. After finding out that the orphanage is a farm with the purpose of raising children as demon food, Emma immediately worries about her friends, showing no regard for herself.

Whenever the escape plan experiences a setback, Emma is always offering to solve the problem by putting her body and her life on the line. Fortunately, this isn't necessary as Norman, a boy genius, always finds a way to outwit the adults. But her actions prove that she doesn't fear her own death, only the death of those closest to her.

3 Bakugo Believes He Can Take On The World (My Hero Academia)

Bakugo is an immense talent, yet somehow his ego outweighs his remarkable ability. The hot-headed hero in training truly believes he can take on the world, charging into battle without a single regard for his own life.

Sometimes this benefits him, with his fearless attitude catching villains off guard. Other times, it almost leads to his downfall, such as when he confronted the League of Villains. We are yet to see Bakugo faced with a real life-or-death situation, but it's unlikely the explosive hero would flinch.

2 Hashirama Offered To Commit Suicide For Madara (Naruto)

Hashirama grew up in a primitive ninja world, before the time of ninja villages and alliances. Shinobi clans were considered nothing more than killing machines, hired by others to protect and destroy. By the time Hashirama was a teenager, he had taken many lives, including those belonging to the Uchiha clan.

Maybe it was his early exposure to the fragility of life that helped Hashirama overcome a fear of death. But his true moment of hard evidence came when he offered to kill himself so that Madara gained redemption for the earlier death of his brother Azuna at the hands of Tobirama Senju—Hashirama's brother. The first Hokage proved he didn't fear death, as long as it brought about peace.

1 Whitebeard Entrusted The Fate Of The World To The Next Generation (One Piece)

For most of his life, Whitebeard was known as the "Strongest Man In The World" and one of the few rivals to the former pirate king Gol D. Roger. However, as he grew older, his strength and health began to decline due to a disease that he could not overcome. Whitebeard relied on machines to keep him alive in his final years, and his knowledge that death wasn't too far away allowed him to get comfortable with it.

In his final moments, facing down the Blackbeard Pirates whilst riddled with holes, Whitebeard reminded Blackbeard that the will of the younger generation will live on and challenge the world in the future. He then died peacefully, entrusting his and Roger's will to Luffy and co.
