Joseph Joestar and the nearly dead Speedwagon were left to fight off Straizo and figure out the mystery behind the Pillar Men, though Joseph had to do most of the work as a healthy Ripple user.

The biggest shock was that, despite Varrick's many demands, she seemed genuinely loyal to him, and she did not necessarily seem like the biggest supporter of Kuvira's ideology. However, Varrick did take her for granted. When it was all revealed that Zhu Li was gathering information, things made more sense.
