Many popular shonen/action anime feature a fire user with a passion that burns as brightly as their flames. This character tends to come across as lively and energetic, and while their bright personality may cause them to act irrationally, fire users are usually skilled in battle and protecting their friends.

Anime's fire-using specialists have more in common than fans may realize. Not only are they masters of their craft, their stubborn nature often leads to an individual with a strong sense of justice.

Anime's Fire Users Are Hotheaded and Short-Tempered

Mereoleona Vermillion (Black Clover)

Like their flames, anime's fire specialists have a fiery personality and are usually full of energy. Due to their inability to stay still, they may start fights with others. Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail always causes brawls in his guild, which initially began as a simple fight between him and his ice-themed rival Gray Fullbuster.

Another example of a short-tempered fire specialist is Mereoleona Vermillion from Black Clover. Unlike her younger brothers Fuegoleon and Leopold, Mereoleona is fierce and bold with a short temper, fighting with others frequently. When she received her grimoire, she and Fuegoleon got into a fight that destroyed part of the Vermillion manor. Their clash later became known as Hot-Blooded Tuesday.

Anime's Fire Users Are Impulsive

Due to their short temper, anime's fire specialists also tend to be impulsive. Their hotheaded nature leads them to act without thinking, which may pose problems for their comrades. Sometimes the fire user rushes into battle before making a plan or compromises missions because they wouldn't stay quiet. Portgas D. Ace from One Piece was known to be impulsive, often making hasty decisions and hardly listening to reason.

As a kid, Naruto's Sasuke Uchiha sometimes acted irrationally, especially when it came to his brother Itachi. While pursuing his revenge, Sasuke frequently allowed his anger to cloud his judgment. He agreed to Orochimaru's help without fully thinking of the consequences, as long as it helped him get strong enough to avenge the fallen Uchiha clan. Sasuke's decisions could hurt those around him, especially Sakura, but he often ignored their attempts to reason with him.

Anime's Fire Users Are Stubborn and Unyielding

The fire specialist's impulsivity often causes them to be stubborn individuals. They are unwilling to steer from their goals, regardless of how morally corrupt they may seem at times. Both antagonists and protagonists with the power to wield flames have an unwavering will, which has cost their lives in some cases. Endeavor from My Hero Academia exhibits a stubborn personality since he was willing to do whatever it took to surpass All Might as the number one Pro Hero, but his family suffered due to some of his actions.

A prime example of a fire user with an unyielding sense of duty is Kyojuro Rengoku from Demon Slayer. Until his death, Rengoku was a dedicated Hashira who lived up to his title. In the Mugen Train film, he kept his promise to not let any of his comrades or civilians on the train die and refused to back down despite being overpowered by Akaza. Although his actions were reckless, he followed through with his goals until the end.

Many action or fantasy-based anime feature a beloved fire specialist with a hot-blooded personality. Although they may come across as reckless or impulsive, they are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve the goals they have set for themselves.
