By agreeing to his contract, the magical girls are obligated to fight witches, who are actually magical girls that succumbed to despair.

1 Alluka Zoldyck/Nanika – Hunter x Hunter
Despite coming from a family of assassins, Alluka Zoldyck does not have any training or combat experience.
Even so, her entire family, except for her brother Killua, are terrified of her. Their fear is a result of the mysterious entity Nanika which dwells within her. Nanika has the power to grant one wish to anyone that fulfills three of Alluka’s requests. Unfortunately, the bigger the wish, the more dangerous and demanding her requests become for the next person.
If a person refuses the requests, they, along with the person they love, are crushed into oblivion. Furthermore, everyone that the requester spent the most time with will also lose their lives.
