There have been wonderful chefs within anime, who amaze and delight others with carefully crafted and delicious cuisine. Unfortunately, there are also chefs who do the exact opposite. These chefs create dishes that are not only lethal but also visually appalling enough to convince people to stay far, far away.

Many of these chefs are convinced that they can improve. While they have plenty of room to do so, this may not always happen, especially if they are the type whose philosophy is to never try one of their own dishes. While they themselves are spared, many other characters are far less fortunate.

10 Persona 4: The Animation: Chie Satonaka & Yukiko Amagi Are Terrible Cooks Who Are Even Worse Together

Chie and Yukiko are incapable of cooking. When shopping for ingredients, they just grab whatever they think "sounds right." Their friends foolishly think that Yukiko would have cooking experience due to working at the Amagi Inn but are sorely mistaken. Their food gives off a purple miasma, and anyone foolish enough to eat it discovers that its texture is so revolting that they can't bring themselves to swallow it.

9 Ranma 1/2: Akane Tendo Can't Stand Her Own Cooking

Akane's cooking is so terrible that even her fiancee Ranma Saotome said that he would rather consume poison. To her credit, she has tried her own cooking and realizes how terrible it is, but makes an attempt to get better.

When attempting to cut vegetables, she does it so violently that she hacks apart the cutting board. She also clumsily fails to read bottle labels, adding the wrong ingredients at times.

Orihime likes to cook and eat strange meals from time to time. Most people are repulsed by some of the things that she makes, and she gets much more experimental when Rangiku Matsumoto is around to be a bad influence. When the two were cooking for Ichigo Kurosaki and Ishida Uryu, the two men were terrified, especially after the women agreed that watermelon is a vegetable. It also didn't help that the women tied them to chairs.

Noel Vermillion makes incredibly lethal dishes, to the point where eating any of her food is seen more as a punishment. Eating her cooking has sent many of her classmates to the infirmary. Only one person is able to enjoy her cooking, but that is only because she can taste the feelings that Noel poured into the dish. Despite Noel's good intentions, it doesn't make her cooking any better for people with normal palates.

6 Food Wars: Tamako Yukihira Worked As A Chef But Was A Terrible Cook

Tamako was a terrible chef, but she was incredibly optimistic and never got hung up over her many failures. Her willingness to keep trying to improve was what made Joichiro Yukihira fall in love with her and inspired him and their son to see who could make the worst dish.

She carelessly tosses in ingredients in order to make the meal healthy and nutritious, unaware of the fact that she is making it more vile and inedible. When she makes lunches for Akihisa Yoshii, he struggles to find a way to avoid eating them.

Yuki isn't good at cooking and cleaning, so the house he lived in was a horrifying mess. If not for Tohru, Yuki would have lived in filthy conditions and eaten a lot of takeout meals. Unlike many other bad chefs in anime, Yuki not only acknowledges that he's terrible at it, but he also doesn't do it. Considering the fact that his classmates consider him to be a perfect prince, no one would have suspected that he'd have this kind of side to him.

Meliodas is the proud owner of the tavern Boar Hat, and for a while, he was its sole cook. His cooking is so awful that his customers are constantly vomiting up his food. Meliodas appears to be used to this and has made it Hawks' job to clean up the floor. Considering the fact that he is over 3,000 years old, it's surprising that he hasn't been able to improve his cooking at all.

Shion's cooking is infamous, and it doesn't help that Rimuru Tempest has no qualms with using her cooking as some form of torture. That being said, her cooking has been used to punish him as well, making him wish for no sense of taste. In order to survive an encounter with her food, most people need to have poison resistance. She does obtain the skill Cook to make her food taste better, but the appearance and smell have not changed.

She puts her all into everything she does, including cooking, but unfortunately, this quality of hers is why she wasn't particularly great at it.
