Batman is one of DC's most celebrated and iconic superheroes, arguably better known than any other character of his franchise (with the possible exception of Superman). Created over eighty years ago in 1939, he has evolved significantly as a character since his debut in many surprising and exciting ways. Further, his personality serves as an inspiration for many who have made their own universes and characters.

Accordingly, he shares resemblances with many characters from anime. By identifying them and correlating their similarities, fans can see the similarities between DCs caped crusader and how he has breathed so much life into other anime characters in their respective fictional universes.

10  (Death Note)

L is drinking tea in Death Note

L was the greatest detective of the Death Note universe and the man who was ultimately responsible for bringing Kira down (on account of his gathered research and through the efforts of his students). Though he may have been cold and peculiar to those who knew him, he was strongly dedicated to justice and was willing to pay any cost to see it through.

This draws noticeable parallels between himself and the Caped Crusader. Their only palpable difference is that Batman will confront his enemies without enough strong enough to keep them behind bars, whereas L waits until they are provably guilty without a shadow of a doubt.

9 Akame (Akame Ga Kill!)

Akame From Akame Ga Kill!

Akame was the most skilled (and one of the few surviving) members of Night Raid. She rejected a better life in the service of others, committed to righteousness and thwarting evil through the shadows. Much like Batman, she operates in silence and has no special "powers" by which to defeat her opposition (aside from her imperial arms' ability to kill targets instantly if her blade touches them).

The assassin's means of killing those who threaten the people are her only noticeable difference with the Dark Knight, but considering that she cannot put them in jail, it's difficult to blame her.

8 Shikaku (Naruto)

Shikaku Nara

Shikaku was the father of Shikamaru and the Leaf's most intelligent strategist at the time. Despite having (comparatively) unimpressive jutsu, his brilliant tactical mind allowed him to guide Konoha through some of its most treacherous opponents.

This draws a strong connection between himself and Batman, especially when completing the analogy through the Justice League. Moreover, both men have students that they are training to replace them (though Shikamaru and Robin). Their apprentices' capabilities speak to their gifts as teachers.

7 Killua Zoldyck (Hunter X Hunter)

Killua in Hunter X Hunter

There are a surprising number of parallels between Killua and Batman in spite of the former's occasionally childish behavior. Both of them serve as the rational check to a more optimistic friend (such as Superman and Gon), with intelligence honed through the suffering they have experienced.

Completing the analogy, each hero was taught by assassins (through the mediums of the Zoldyck family and League of Shadows). Further, both of their mentors want them to lead their respective organizations regardless of the actions taken to defy them.

6 Toshiro Hitsugaya (Bleach)

Toshiro Hitsugaya was the captain of the tenth division and among its youngest officers. Despite this lack of experience, he carried himself with professionalism and austerity and was a moral counterbalance to some of the organization's more unhinged members (such as Mayuri or Kenpachi).

Therefore, it's easy to gauge his similarities with Batman when assessing how he deals with his peers. Each has an unwavering dedication to the mission, seldom deigning to immoral means in order to see their respective tasks through.

5 Eraserhead (My Hero Academia)

Eraserhead (My Hero Academia)

Every aspect of Eraserhead is strongly reminiscent of the Dark Knight himself. In addition to physical similarities with Bruce Wayne (such as his athletic but lean build, dark hair, and facial stubble), his quirk allows him to fight his enemies on even footing since it negates the powers of others.

This is akin to how Batman overcomes his villains since each hero technically doesn't have a special ability of their own. The only palpable difference between them is that Aizawa is realistic about pupils who may not be suitable for hero work, whereas Batman's irresponsibility has imperiled many Robins.

4 Jotaro Kujo (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

Jotaro angry

Jotaro Kujo and Batman have many immediately glaring aspects in common. Both of them were motivated through their parents (whether Holly's suffering or Martha's death), wear almost entirely black, and are handily the least talkative of their own groups.

The only noticeable difference between them is that Jotaro sometimes kills his adversaries, though he is usually more lenient toward them the further his adventures progress. Poetically, this also resembles the Caped Crusader since he too killed villains in his earliest iterations.

3 Satsuki Kiryuin (Kill La Kill)

Kiryuin Satsuki - Kill la Kill

Satsuki Kiryuin was the grim leader of Honnoji Academy. A natural athlete, she was strong enough to contend with Ryuko despite having no innate powers of her own. Further, her father's murder was a massive impetus for her actions, and the lady uses her immense wealth in order to best procure her goals.

Additionally, her presentation may be interpreted as villainous to some (notably through her sibling, but also by Mako), much like the Dark Knight's own. Given these overwhelming number of similarities, Kill La Kill's secondary protagonist is more akin to Batman than might seem immediately evident at first.

2 Scar (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Scar was a rogue Ishvallan of the Fullmetal Alchemist universe. Though flagrantly villainous at first, he saw character growth throughout the series and would ultimately work in the greater good despite how the system had hunted and hurt him.

He operated primarily through the shadows and was the stoic foil to many of his more talkative companions, much like Batman's interactions with budding superheroes (whether his sidekicks or particularly chatty loudmouths such as Booster Gold or Plastic Man). Each of them is motivated through the murder of family members, furthering what they have in common even more.

1 Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto)

Sasuke With His Sharingan & Rinnegan

Sasuke's dark aesthetic, quiet demeanor, and questionable methods share much in common with the Caped Crusader. Like Batman, he was forced to watch his parents die, serving as the main motivation for what actions he took henceforth.

Though he would have a prolonged career of villainy throughout the later arcs of Naruto and almost the entirety of Shippuden, he returned to Konoha before the series was complete, serving as its silent protector whenever it required his services. He isn't the hero the Leaf deserves, but the one it needs.
