Some anime characters know exactly who they want to be. Naruto believed himself destined to become Hokage in Naruto, Gon was determined to become a Hunter in Hunter x Hunter, and even Usagi Tsukino graciously stepped into her role as Sailor Moon once she'd had some training and a helping hand from her friends. Put simply, they love what they do, and they do it well.

Other anime characters aren't as adept at their chosen career path. Whether it be because they were forced into a life they didn't want, or something about their personality simply disagrees with the job at hand, it might be a good idea for some anime characters to trade in their day job for something else.

10 Sasha Braus Finds Comfort In Food (Attack On Titan)

Sasha eating a potato during training in Attack on Titan.

One thing is very clear about Sasha from Attack On Titan: she is an exceptionally talented member of the Scout Regiment. Finishing in the top ten of her original class, it's definitely not the skill she lacks, but rather the fact that there's no ignoring Sasha could've been far happier in a much safer career.

Sasha's voracious appetite and love of food show that it makes sense for Sasha to go into some kind of culinary or food-related career. Not just that, but she joined the military mainly for retaliation against her father, which shows it wasn't a thought-out career or one she ever believed she'd truly end up in.

9 Zenitsu Agatsuma's Nerves Need A Rest (Demon Slayer)

Zenitsu with a sparrow in Demon Slayer.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Zenitsu from Demon Slayer isn't in the right line of work. He struggles to maintain his composure, cries at the first sight of conflict, and is more interested in chasing after Nezuko than doing his job.

That's not to say Zenitsu isn't a good demon slayer, as his subconscious is so determined to protect others that it battles for him when he passes out. However, it is evident that he would save his heart a lot of stress if he'd just swap to something a little less terrifying.

8 Homura Akemi Has Already Given Up Too Much (Puella Magi Madoka Magica)

Homura Akemi in Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Once upon a time, in another timeline, Homura from Puella Magi Madoka Magica became a magical girl to redo her first meeting with Madoka. This gave her the ability to rewind time and, while that sounds incredibly cool, it only trapped her in a never-ending cycle of trying to save her friends and failing every time.

Homura watched her friends die many times before Madoka eventually saved her from her fate, and had to suffer through them seeing her as a monster in the anime timeline. Frankly, she's been through enough, and Homura needs to hang up her magical girl boots for good.

7 Riko Is Too Willing To Die At Her Age (Made In Abyss)

Riko with a smile on her face in Made In Abyss.

In the Made In Abyss universe, The Abyss is a colossal pit home to magic and strange artifacts. Adventurers who are brave enough to dive into The Abyss are called Delvers, which is exactly what the small but mighty Riko wishes to become. Specifically, Riko wants to be a legendary type of Delver known as a White Whistle.

Riko has the personality, the guts, and the determination to become a White Whistle, but she has zero concerns about her own well-being. At only 12 years old, Riko is too young to be putting herself at so much risk, and someone needs to stop her before she goes too far.

6 Ban's Cooking Skills Are Next To None (The Seven Deadly Sins)

Ban Getting Serious Against Meliodas

In a surprising twist of events in The Seven Deadly Sins, the group's resident troublemaker, Ban, reveals that he's actually a pretty exceptional cook. In fact, Hawk's gluttonous appetite goes into overdrive when Ban cooks, with the boar typically eating to excess.

While Ban is talented, he isn't really a good Holy Knight. With his general attitude and distaste for authority, he never did quite fit into the fairly regimented role, and instead would excel in the kitchen of a pub where he could live a happy life.

5 Ino Yamanaka Needs To Return To Life As A Kunoichi (Boruto)

Ino Tamanaka concentrates in Naruto.

During the events of Naruto, Ino proves multiple times that she's a dominant force in not only the village, but also in the world at large. Alongside Sakura and Hinata, she displays the strength of the Konohagakure women, yet in Boruto, viewers were disappointed to discover she'd retired from active duty to run a flower shop.

Ino was a deadly kunoichi, and sidelining her in modern arcs rather than having her actively serve her village was a big mistake. Her ex-team member, Shikamaru, still holds a high rank and considering she enabled his success quite a lot, it's a massive shame that Ino went into early retirement.

4 Gaku Yashiro Needs To Never Be Around Children (Erased)

Gaku Yashiro in Erased.

Gaku Yahiro from Erased passed himself off as a kind-hearted, generous teacher to young children. However, Gaku is revealed as the true monster of the series as he attempts to kill a young Satoru Fujinuma after the young boy came too close to discovering the whole truth.

In whatever profession Gaku is in, he needs to be as far away from children as physically possible. Not only that, but even his time as a serial killer was also foiled by a small child, meaning in the end he wasn't successful at either of the paths he attempted.

3 Yoshinobu Gakuganji Lacks Compassion (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Yoshinobu uses a guitar to transmit his cursed energy in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Yoshinobu from Jujutsu Kaisen is a formidable jujutsu sorcerer, with his talent in that field being undoubtedly impressive. However, as the principal of Kyoto Jujutsu High, he falls painfully short. A principal should, at their core, place the best interests of their children and others above all else: Yoshinobu doesn't do that, nor does he want to.

Overly keen on killing Yuji Itadori rather than trying to help or train the boy, Yoshinobu also allows his own students to run amok, causing injury to the Tokyo Jujutsu High students more often than not. He's a staunch traditionalist who isn't interested in messing with the status quo and fails in his duty to keep the children safe.

2 Canary Is Far Better Than Her Post (Hunter X Hunter)

Canary at the Zoldyck Estate in Hunter x Hunter.

The young apprentice butler who protects the Zoldyck estate in Hunter x Hunter is not to be messed with. Despite possessing innocent looks and a soft way of speaking, Canary has a ruthless loyalty to serving her employers, particularly Killua. However, Canary isn't a normal butler; she has a wicked sharp mind of her own and spends the majority of the 13th Hunter Chairman Election Arc disobeying the orders of her superiors to help Killua.

Canary is exceptionally talented, compassionate, and willing to do whatever it takes to stand up to injustice, even injustice that comes from her own employers. Canary is wasted being the apprentice butler to the Zoldyck family, and might even have the talent to become a Hunter herself.

1 Arataka Reigen Should Give Up The Charade (Mob Psycho 100)

Reigen Arataka in Mob Psycho 100.

Arataka Reigen from Mob Psycho 100 doesn't really fit in with his current job. Despite having a humorous enough personality to somewhat redeem himself, Reigen still took advantage of Mob's psychic powers for multiple seasons to keep up the illusion that he had his own powers. Not only that, but Reigen was terrified of anything mildly ghostly or paranormal, so moonlighting as a psychic probably wasn't his best career move.

Reigen is a good man underneath, though, and would excel somewhere else. He slowly but surely builds a better relationship with Mob and, with his affinity for acting and humor, maybe he'd be more suited to stand-up comedy.
