Hinako had the odd habit of freezing up like a scarecrow whenever she got overwhelmed by her social anxiety. Though this made her popular with the animals at home in the countryside, it was much more awkward when she moved into the city to pursue joining the school's theater club. After befriending the rest of the main cast, however, she slowly overcame her social anxiety, and viewers noted that she rarely froze up around them by the end of Hinako Note. This growth in Hinako's confidence made her popular with viewers and led to some heartwarming moments.

Sōma is the protagonist of Food Wars! and was an amazing chef in his own right. After he started the series with dishes such as the "Gotcha! This was especially heartwarming when viewers later found out that Chino was lonely after her mother's death, leading Chino's father to encourage her to make friends with Cocoa. Cocoa soon became the glue that bonded the rest of the main cast together as an inseparable, close group of friends.

6 Misty Was One Of Ash's First Traveling Companions (Pokémon)

Misty was one of the Water-type Gym leaders at the Cerulean Gym, but she was also one of Ash's first traveling companions. Her hot-headed temper and banter with Ash were hilarious for fans to watch, but they also loved watching her softer side after she obtained Togepi. She also had some memorable moments with her own Pokémon such as Psyduck, and she took part in some iconic battles. Even though Misty eventually left Ash's side, many fans still look fondly on her times traveling with Ash and Brock.

Kyoko Mogami aspired to earn stardom for the sake of getting revenge on Sho Fuwa, who deceived her and led her on. After Kyoko realized that Sho was only using her as his personal maid until he rose to stardom, she vowed to beat him at showbiz to teach him a lesson. As part of her pursuit to beat Sho, she dyed her hair from black to orange.

However, Kyoko later realized that she had a passion for acting. She also learned many more things about herself, the world of show business, and made some new friends along the way.

4 Monica Adenauer Was A Renowned Pastry Chef (Yakitate!! Japan)

Monica Adenauer was introduced in the Monaco Cup arc of Yakitate!! Japan. As part of the American team, despite being a pastry chef and not a baker, she beat swordsman Kai Suwabara in one of the final matches. Her ultimate dream was to build a "candy castle," and her plans, at the time, were to win the Monaco Cup so she could become the general manager of St. Pierre's pastry branch.

However, Kai's defeat led to the two of them pursuing a romantic relationship, much to the shock of everyone else. Unfortunately for Monica, Kai's serious obsession with beating Azuma caused a crisis in their relationship during the Yakitate!! 9 arc (Yakitate!! 25 in the manga).

3 Kyo Sohma Could Turn Into A Cat And A More Monstrous Form (Fruits Basket)

Kyo Sohma is one of the many cursed family members in Fruits Basket. His form represented the Cat in the Zodiac, but he also had another true, monstrous form that he was ashamed to show anyone.

However, after Kyo had his true form exposed to his love interest and main heroine Tohru, Tohru accepted him for who he was, even if she was initially frightened by his true form. 2 Yahiko Established The Akatsuki (Naruto)

Yahiko was a shinobi from Amegakure, but served as a villainous figure rather than a supportive side character or protagonist. He was orphaned during the Second Shinobi World War and aspired to become a god to end the fighting and injustice in the world. Unfortunately for the rest of the world and the protagonists of Naruto, this led to him establishing the Akatsuki, which ultimately became an incredibly villainous organization after several changes in leaders. Though Yahiko's intentions were good, his creation of the Akatsuki eventually led to many horrible events unfolding.

1 Shirou Emiya Is His Series' Main Protagonist (Fate/Stay Night)

Shirou Emiya is one of the main characters featured in Fate/Stay Night. He acted as the Master of the Saber during the Fifth Holy War and hoped to end the war with Saber so that no further tragedies would occur. Many loved watching his growth throughout the series as both a person and a fine warrior, but they also enjoyed watching his relationship with Saber unfold as well. His aspirations to get stronger to ultimately do more good in the world also resonated well with fans of other anime heroes.
