There have been plenty of anime characters who have been heavily wounded during some point in their journey. With so many different stories being told in anime form, it is unsurprising that many characters happen to be missing a limb or more. Despite this, these characters are still portrayed as powerful people who can still make a difference in their respective worlds.

They boast abilities that either utilize a prosthetic or still work effectively even without the lost limb. Many of the characters have even pushed themselves to be stronger than before, making it easy for viewers to forget that they lost a limb in the first place.

10 Edward Elric: He's The Youngest State Alchemist

Edward Elric lost his arm and his leg in an attempt to bring his mother back to life in Fullmetal Alchemist. As a result, his friend Winry Rockbell and her grandmother outfitted him with automail prosthetics. Despite this, Edward goes on to become the youngest State Alchemist. He can perform alchemy without using Transmutation Circles as a result of seeing the Truth, allowing him to use his alchemy much faster. He also works out regularly, keeping himself as physically fit as possible.

9 Kukaku Shiba: She Has Great Physical Strength

In Bleach, Kukaku is the leader of the Shiba Clan. When introduced in the series, she is already shown with her prosthetic arm. It doesn't stop her from beating up both Ichigo Kurosaki and Ganju Shiba when they're fighting, which happens frequently. She's a master of fireworks who teaches them how to get through the barrier of Seireitei, which is otherwise impenetrable. No attention is ever really focused on her arm since she functions perfectly fine without it.

8 Nana: She Uses Her Invisible Arms To Move

Nana is a Diclonius from Elfen Lied, an evolution of humans that grants them pinkish hair and eyes, white horns, and the power to create unseen hands to fight their opponents. During a fight with Lucy, a Diclonius far stronger than her, she gets distracted by a bystander and ends up losing all of her limbs as a result. Fortunately for her, she was given realistic prosthetic limbs to move with her unseen hands, which are known as vectors.

7 Ragna The Bloodedge: His Arm Was Replaced By The Azure Grimoire

In Blazblue: Alter Memory, Ragna the Bloodedge spent a portion of his childhood in a church, but his peaceful life there was interrupted by an attack by Yuuki Terumi. This results in him losing his arm and being left for dead. His arm was replaced by the Azure Grimoire, a fragment of a beast that nearly destroyed the world a hundred years ago. The Grimoire took the shape of a regular arm, which he can use, but it is also a powerful weapon. Even when he can't use that arm, his skills with his sword are still impressive.

6 Rabbit Hero: Her Attacks Rely On Her Powerful Kicks

While searching for Doctor Garaki in My Hero Academia, Mirko is confronted by Nomu. Despite being outnumbered, she smashes through them with a series of kicks. During the fight, she loses an arm in the process, but she ignores the pain and continues fighting.

Even without her arm, she can defeat Nomu with a single kick to the head, as her legs are her most powerful weapon. She sustained a lot of grievous injuries but was able to push through the battle regardless.

5 Princess Kushana: She Was Raised To Be A Military General

Kushana is a princess from Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind. She was raised to be a military general and harden herself because her brothers wanted to take the throne. When she was a child, she lost both legs and an arm to an Ohmu attack and developed a hatred for the insects. She became powerful enough to survive and conquer cities in a world full of toxins, and her hatred for the giant insects fuels her actions.

4 Gildarts Clive: He Still Has His Crushing Magic

Gildarts, one of the strongest members of the Fairy Tail guild, takes on a 100-year quest but returns after encountering the dragon Acnologia. His fight against Acnologia cost him his left arm and left leg. He eventually replaces them with armored prosthetics.

Even after this experience, his magic is still as powerful as ever. He wields magic that allows him to crush anything he comes into contact with and can even defeat Natsu Dragneel during his S-Class Mage promotion trial effortlessly.

3 Hyakkimaru: He Has Durable, Weaponized Prosthetics

Thanks to his father making a pact with demons in exchange for power, Hyakkimaru lost most of his body parts in Dororo. Eventually, given prosthetics, he was able to kill demons despite not being able to see or hear. He is strong, agile, and able to sense demons when ordinary people cannot. His prosthetics are durable, able to withstand blows. They also hide weapons that he is skilled at wielding.

2 Zeff: He Can Still Hit Hard With A Peg Leg

A former pirate in One Piece, Zeff is the chef who cared for and trained Sanji. When the two were stranded on an island, Zeff gave Sanji all of the food while he removed and ate his own leg to survive. He didn't seem to have any regrets about the decision and is still an excellent chef who isn't bothered by his peg leg. Although known for his powerful kicks, he can still dish out a lot of damage with the peg leg.

1 Najenda: She Has A Weaponized Prosthetic And The Skills Of A General

A former general of the Empire in Akame Ga Kill, Najenda lost her eye and her arm to Esdeath after she defected. Although she says that she is not as powerful as she was before, Najenda can still fight well in hand-to-hand combat. Her kicks are strong enough to kill people in one blow, and she can shoot her prosthetic arm and pull herself towards it. As Night Raid's leader, she commands the Teigu Susanoo, who recognized her skills as a general.
