JoJo's Bizarre Adventure continued its anime adventure in the Stone Ocean story arc, which introduced the new Joestar heroine, Jolyne Cujoh. She is the estranged daughter of the former hero, Jotaro Kujo, and it's not easy being Jolyne. She is surrounded by enemies in the unforgiving Green Dolphin Street prison on the coast of Florida, U.S.A.

Jolyne Cujoh is in for the fight of her life, but she's ready. She obtained her own humanoid Stand called Stone Free, and it allows her to form threads to capture her enemies, catch items from afar, and much more, and she has a few JoBros of her own, such as Ermes and Foo Fighters. Jolyne's cool, punkish attitude and unique worldview might remind viewers of similar anime heroes, too.

10 Edward Elric Is A Hotheaded Rogue, Like Jolyne (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Edward rests his face against his fist

Edward Elric is the youngest state alchemist in history, and he certainly earned his rank. Ed was always a gifted kid with a passion for science and alchemy and put his skills to good use once he embarked on a journey to restore his and Alphonse's maimed bodies. The brothers had made a horrible mistake that they'll certainly never repeat.

Like Jolyne, Edward has a punkish attitude but a good heart, and he only wants to do what's best for everyone. He is also creative and resourceful like most Joestar heroes, especially Jolyne, and he can count Roy Mustang, Al, and even Major Armstrong as his JoBros of sorts.

9 Ichigo Kurosaki Is A Hero With An Attitude (Bleach)

ichigo Kurosaki With An Attitude (Bleach)

Ichigo Kurosaki is a punk kid with a good heart, just like Jolyne Cujoh, and they are loyal to their friends and unforgiving toward their enemies. Ichigo's JoBros include the quiet but strong Chad and Quincy archer Uryu Ishida, and soon, Rukia Kuchiki as well. They all make a good team.

Ichigo and Jolyne also have odd relationships with their fathers, with Jolyne being estranged from hers while Ichigo often feuds comically with his. However, Isshin Kurosaki is also a Soul Reaper, giving him something in common with his son. That's similar to Jolyne and Jotaro both being formidable Stand users.

8 Toph Beifong Just Wants To Run Free (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

Toph as the Blind Bandit

Toph Beifong is yet another animated punk hero with a good heart, and like Jolyne, Toph can't stand being trapped by endless rules and laws. Instead, Toph wants to make up her own life and wander freely, making her more like an Airbender in spirit than an actual Earthbender.

Toph and Jolyne are both verbally aggressive and brilliant fighters who can find any crafty solution to a problem during combat, and they are loyal to their friends but aren't afraid to call them out on their nonsense. They also have difficult relationships with their fathers. In fact, Toph resents both her parents for trapping her in a suffocating lifestyle growing up.

7 Killua Zoldyck Won't Take Orders From Anyone (Hunter X Hunter)

Killua from Hunter x Hunter.

Killua Zoldyck was born into a reclusive family of trained assassins, and he used to be tortured at the hands of his parents. Killua couldn't stand this lifestyle, so he ran off to create his own future, where no one can tell him what to do. That's something the delinquent Jolyne Cujoh can relate to.

Killua, just like Jolyne, is a smart and crafty fighter who can find unorthodox and resourceful solutions in battle, and that makes him tough to beat. He also has a best friend, Gon Freecss, who acts as his sole JoBro. Killua isn't a total loner, after all.

5 Yato Has An Attitude & Father Issues (Noragami)

Yato holding coin (Noragami)

Yato is a minor deity who'll do any favor for 5 yen, and he hopes to have his own legion of worshipers one day. Until then, he has to make it up as he goes, and he must rely on his wits and his small handful of allies to survive. That makes him similar to many shonen protagonists, including Jolyne Cujoh.

On top of that, Yato and Jolyne both have prickly and fierce personalities that sometimes annoy the people around them, and both of them have issues with their fathers, which seems common in anime. In this case, Yato often butts heads with his scheming "father," Koto Fujisaki.

4 Staz C. Blood Clashes With Family & Went Rogue (Blood Lad)

blood lad anime Staz C. Blood

The somewhat obscure fantasy anime Blood Lad makes for good Halloween viewing, and it should appeal to fans of Soul Eater or fantasy fans in general. The protagonist is the bratty young vampire Staz C. Blood, who is an enthusiastic otaku who likes to act like a petty gang boss in the underworld.

Staz's cool punkish attitude is similar to Jolyne's, and he slowly and surely formed a gang of his own JoBros, including Hydra Bell and Wolf to fight the forces of evil. He got along with his father, but he was often at odds with his big brother, Braz, who thought himself superior to the goofy Staz.

3 Soma Yukihira Gets Into "Fights" & Has A Gang Of Friends (Food Wars!)

some food wars smiling

In broad strokes, the shonen protagonist Soma Yukihira is like Jolyne Cujoh in the sense that they both ended up in a rigid institution against their will, and had to fight endless battles to survive and prove themselves. Instead of ending up incarcerated, though, Soma was sent to the elite Totsuki culinary academy.

This is a competitive school, and students are encouraged to battle one another and put anything they can think of on the line, similar to Jolyne's many battles in that prison's walls. Like Jolyne, Soma is a creative and unorthodox fighter who can find victory in the direst of situations, and he has a few JoBros of his own, too.

Arisa thought she had no future until she met the kind Tohru Honda, who befriended her at once and saw the best in her. Arisa was inspired to give herself a second chance.

Arisa is now a reformed delinquent, a tough but fair heroine like Jolyne who will protect a friend and ferociously fight any foe who threatens anyone whom she cherishes. Arisa also isn't afraid to playfully tease her friends or friends of friends either, such as Yuki and Kyo.

1 Kyoka Jiro Is The Earphone Jack Hero (My Hero Academia)

kyoka jiro my hero academia

Kyoka Jiro is a tough and cool girl like Jolyne Cujoh who has a few private insecurities and doubts to deal with - in this case, being embarrassed about her hobby of playing guitar and singing. Fortunately for her, Kyoka's classmates were impressed, and they encouraged her to embrace her musical side with confidence.

Kyoka's punkish attitude is just like Jolyne's, and both heroines work well either alone or in a team, and they can make creative and unexpected uses of their respective abilities. Kyoka can use her sonic Earphone Jack Quirk to track enemies from afar or even shatter the ground with sonic shockwaves, among other techniques.
