It's easier to spend money than make money, and some people are better at saving theirs than others. For some people, spending money is like breathing, but it comes with all sorts of problems. Even anime characters have trouble with money, some being the worst when it comes to handling it.
Between bad spending habits, low motivation to make what they spent back, and a lack of understanding of how finite money can be, there are characters out there who tend to empty their wallet pretty easily. These characters would probably be better off letting someone else handle their finances.

Kill la Kill's Mankanshoku family is not the most financially stable, not that it really bothers them all too much, least of all Mako. Mako, like the rest of her family, makes the most of what she's got. However, Mako's not above going crazy when she actually does have a little spending cash.
During the "Tri-City Schools Raid Trip," Mako managed to take advantage of the situation and grabbed some dough discarded from one of the enemy schools. Mako then went all around Osaka spending it all the food stalls and stuffing her face with all the foods she could get her hands on.

Despite being a pirate, Luffy's not really interested in finding treasure other than One Piece's namesake. He's much more the type who just enjoys the adventure as well as stuffing his stretchy face with food. However, Luffy's gigantic appetite also plays into his spending habits, as any time Luffy has to handle money, he spends it on literal boatloads of food.
The Straw Hats actually spend a good portion of their money crew feeding their captain's bottomless appetite, much to their dismay. The saddest part is, Luffy has basically zero understanding of how bad his habits are.
8 Dandy Spends His Time And Money In His Favorite Restaurant (Space Dandy)
Space Dandy's protagonist would see himself as a simple man with simple pleasures. Those simple pleasures being, spending all his available time off from alien-hunting either lazing around or going to his favorite restaurant, "BooBies" (a parody of Hooters). His reasons for being such a regular are pretty obvious, and his ultimate goal is to visit all their locations and one day own the entire chain.
Dandy's problem with that is that he's not great at his job, so he rarely makes all that much in the way of money. What little he does make he spends at BooBies. He even neglects his crew's basic necessities and ship repairs in favor of visiting the restaurant.
7 Kazuya Has Spent A Lot On Renting Chizuru (Rent-A-Girlfriend)
Kazuya Kinoshita from Rent-A-Girlfriend is pretty pitiful for a number of reasons. After getting dumped by his girlfriend, Kazuya uses an app to rent a temporary one in Chizuru Mizuhara, who he ends up entangling in a precarious web of lies. Being professional, Chizuru promises to help him... as long as Kazuya keeps paying for it.
As one would expect, Kazuya's savings dip pretty far down, since continuously renting out Chizuru costs him quite a pretty penny. He's eventually forced to get a job in order to keep doing it. Kazuya has no one to blame but himself for spending so much to keep his own lies afloat.
6 Tsunade Is Known As "The Legendary Sucker" (Naruto)
Naruto's Tsunade is well known for being one of the Sannin and Konoha's Fifth Hokage, but she's also famous for another reason. Tsunade's a pretty irresponsible gambler, and her luck is also pretty rotten, so she tends to lose a lot of money on the bets she makes. This has garnered her the nickname "The Legendary Sucker."
Tsunade is at least aware of her own bad luck, usually seeing her own winning streak as a bad sign, and tries to take advantage of it to win out. Sadly, this sometimes backfires as well. The house always wins after all.

Gintoki Sakata is Ginatama's iconic silver-haired samurai, who often takes up odd jobs in order to get by. Unfortunately, Gintoki is a pretty lazy guy, laying around and unmotivated to do anything, which contributes to why he's always broke. What money he does make he tends to blow it on pachinko.
Gintoki's almost always behind on his rent, to the point where running away from his landlady is practically a recurring ritual for him. There is more underneath that slacker behavior, but it doesn't change that Gintoki's financial status is consistently in the red.
4 Aqua's Habits Force Kazuma's Party Into Desperate Situations (KonoSuba)
KonoSuba's protagonists are almost perpetually unlucky, between their own mistakes and personality quirks that mix like oil and water. Oftentimes, Kazuma's party is in desperate need of money, no thanks to their "Useless Goddess" Aqua, who tends to be the one who wastes the most money.
When Kazuma and company find themselves with some big earnings, Aqua's usually the one who spends the party's hard-earned cash on expensive bottles of booze. Because of this bad habit, Aqua's put her friends into desperate situations more times than once, forcing them to take on tougher jobs in order to keep food on the table.
3 Team Rocket Have Been Broke For Decades (Pokémon)
Jessie, James, and Meowth of Team Rocket are Pokémon's famous bumbling trio. On top of failing to capture Ash's Pikachu and every Pokémon that catches their eye pretty much every single time, the three misfits are known to have been constantly broke for decades of this anime.
Whether they've been scammed with a bad deal or it's just a byproduct of their many bungled schemes, Team Rocket is always out of money and is often in danger of starving. It's so bad that they've actually had to get jobs on the side, but they usually end up losing those and any money they made from it pretty quick.
2 Hayate's Parents Basically Sell Him To Pay Off Their Debt (Hayate The Combat Butler)
Anime is home to a lot of bad parents, though Hayate's from Hayate the Combat Butler may be among the very worst. Both his father and mother neglect Hayate and his brother while refusing to get jobs, forcing their financial hardships onto their kids, and gambling away any money they actually get.
Hayate's parents are also not above doing things such as literally stealing lunch money from children and selling Hayate's organs to the yakuza to pay off their debts. Their horrible behavior was so bad, it almost drove Hayate to commit crimes before being taken in by Nagi.
1 Fitzgerald Literally Gets Stronger From Spending Money (Bungo Stray Dogs)
This list has contained many anime characters who waste money due to bad habits or mistakes, but Bungo Stray Dogs' Fitzgerald is something else entirely. Fitzgerald's ability, "The Great Fitzgerald," amps up his physical capabilities and makes him a deadly force to be reckoned with. The only catch is that his power is dependent on spending money, the more the better.
Fitzgerald literally gets stronger from wasting money, and the crazy part is that he can waste other people's money as long as they offer it to him first. And if that wasn't enough, Fitzgerald's also notoriously bad at shopping, often buying too much of something on sale and overestimating the value.
