Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise allows players to take a break from their carefully curated Nook-run island to work as a resort developer at the Paradise Planning vacation home company. Players take on the task of designing vacation homes for vacation-dwelling villagers of their choosing.

The DLC allows players more creative freedom with improved design tools, new items, and an array of suggested themes from villagers on what they'd like their dream home theme to look like. Each theme unlocks a new variety of items, and each client has a unique vision. Some of the requests range from tea shops, cafes, specific food-themed restaurants, and arcades, while others are a little weirder.

10 A Forest Surrounded By Mushrooms

Alli Animal Crossing

Alli is a snooty alligator villager who's appeared in every Animal Crossing to date. In the DLC, she wants to relax in a forest surrounded by mushrooms. And while there are plenty of mushrooms to forage in the forest, there are some magical ones that could make her vacation home a little out of this world.

9 Operating Heavy Machinery... Safely

Boyd Animal Crossing

Boyd is a cranky gorilla villager who wants to work with heavy equipment safely. Sounds easy enough when you think of heavy equipment in terms of weights and dumbells. However, Boyd has other plans in his heavy-duty safety zone vacation home.

He requires an excavator, bulldozer, and steamroller in his perfectly thought-out dream home. And while the player can add construction signs, a safety cone on the floor, and a safety helmet to the wall, who's to say he'll actually use them? There's always the option to put the hat directly on his head or skate around the requirements and place the heavy machinery outdoors. But where's the fun in that?

8 Running Around Unleashed

Butch Animal Crossing

Butch is a dog villager whose village home request is a dog run for a running dog. And with the minimal requirements of a few small items, it's easy for the player to make a spacious open space where Butch can literally stand and drink coffee. Since villagers in Happy Home Paradise don't interact in the same manner they do on the original island, it's hard to imagine the furrowed-browed Butch doing anything else in his checkered sweater vest. However, given the opportunity, maybe the change of pace will help him let loose.

7 Secret Research Lab

Cobb Animal Crossing

Cobb's request isn't just for a laboratory for his secret research but rather for an entirely new one. This begs the question of what happened to his old one? The player can take creative liberties as to what secret research Cobb may be doing with his modest requirements of a lab set and oil lab. It's the oil lab that harkens back to the idea of a new lab, insinuating the destruction of an old one. Cobb's secret research lab may hold more of a narrative focus regarding where the player places it. Perhaps on one of the small islands off the coast... on a rocky terrain... far away from other villagers and vacation homes.

6 Never Too Many Toilets

Lionel Animal Crossing

Lion villager Lionel likes to live by the vacation home ethos that, "you can never have too many toilets when you have company over." His restroom refuge doesn't just request multiple toilets, but a variety of them as well. From tankless to standing, he's got an option for every guest the smug villager hopes to entertain in his vacation home. Whether the player decides to offer each guest their own bathroom or make an entranceway of raising toilet seat covers is entirely up to their creative integrity.

5 The Piggy Bank

Gala Animal Crossing

Gala is an adorable normal pig villager who thinks it would be fun to stay in a bank and protect its assets. She wants a bank for everyone with a reception counter so everyone is able to pull funds of all sorts – from bells to poki.

Players can create a bank reception area and vault with the added charm of a piggy bank item, and Gala as security or a teller. Others may choose the route of making Gala the piggybank and most coveted asset.

4 The Shapes of Numbers

Egbert Animal Crossing

The dark rings under lazy Egbert's eyes and dazed expression give off an exhausted appearance for the chicken villager. According to his e-Reader card profile, he acts more like a night owl. However, as he's a rooster, he has to be up at the crack of dawn to crow. A lack of sleep would help explain his thought that the shapes of numbers are cool. And the only required item to make his vacation home a reality is the color wheel in the variation of colorful numbers.

3 Keep On Waiting

Brofina Animal Crossing

The Anticipation Station is snooty chicken villager Broffina's idea of a dream vacation home. She wants to stay in the moment of waiting for someone to arrive. For example, the anxiety-inducing moment of checking the time, pacing, and re-reading messages to make sure you're at the right place, on the right date, at the right time. Her vacation home dream, with a required public bench and steel trash can, likely references the Happy Home Designer request for a home that screams, "she lives in a bus station."

2 Nights Spent In Empty Lots

Renee Animal Crossing

Big sister rhinoceros villager, Renée absolutely has to have a backstory to go with her vacation home request. A total blank slate with a utility pole, cruiser bike, and fence so she can reminisce on "the time she misses spending hanging out in empty lots."

It's hard not to give her a bad girl backstory who's turned a new leaf by trying to be the prominent sister villager. While she'll give the player advice and medicine when stung by a bee, her catchphrase "reckless youth makes rueful age" adds to the narrative.

1 Locker Room Showers

Buck Animal Crossing

As per his thought bubble, Buck the jock horse villager wants a vacation home that mirrors a locker-room lodge. While the player can add a weight room and workout area the competitive horse is sure to love, the client is very specific in asking for a locker room. The required shower booth, upright locker, and bench really spell out his vision. Buck's request for this particular room is a little odd, but there's always the option to add enough towels and robes for every guest.
