Nintendo confirmed Animal Crossing: New Horizons will get a new update on April 23. This update will add some new island visitors to the rotating cast of NPCs that populate the plaza and entice players with goods. Among them is returning character Leif the sloth from Animal Crossing: New Leaf, whose garden shop will be there to sell more flower seeds and grant players the ability to grow shrubs. The shady fox Redd will also be stopping by on his boat, selling furniture and paintings of questionable authenticity. The latter can be sold to Blathers at the museum, which will be expanded to include an art gallery.

The biggest announcement from the update is the new events that will be taking place from April to June. Here is a rundown of what to expect from these events.

Nature Day (4/23-5/4)

Acquiring Nook Miles, New Horizons' alternate in-game currency, is easy enough thanks to Nook Miles+, which gives players points for simple, daily tasks like talking to neighbors and planting flowers. Beginning Thursday, players will receive special Nook Miles+ challenges to complete for some extra Nook Points. All of these challenges will focus on nature-based activities, such as watering flowers or planting trees and shrubs. Completing these tasks will net even more Nook Points than before.

Since the game already encourages players to plant as many flowers and trees as possible, this event is a great way to expand upon what is already a fundamental part of Animal Crossing, not to mention an easy way to get more Nook Miles.

May Day Tour (5/1-5/7)

A big part of New Horizons is traveling to other islands via Dodo Airlines and the game's next event will expand upon this with a special offer. For the first week of May, players will get access to the May Day Ticket. These function similarly to the Nook Miles Ticket, which takes players to a randomly-generated island where they can collect supplies and potentially recruit new island residents.

The May Day Ticket will give players the opportunity to take a limited-time tour of an island much different from the others. A special visitor "who looks familiar" is also confirmed to be there, but Nintendo is keeping their identity a secret for now.

International Museum Day (5/18-5/31)

International Museum Day may only be one day, but Blathers will host a two-week event to celebrate. Players will be able to take part in a Stamp Rally, where players will receive a Stamp Card from Blathers to explore their museum. Visiting various exhibits will allow players to collect stamps and collecting enough stamps will earn players a special reward, though Nintendo has not revealed what it will be.

With the update already promising a museum expansion and new species of fish and bugs coming to the island every month, collecting stamps will make providing for and exploring the museum even more of a treat.

Wedding Season (Entire Month Of June)

June will be a time for celebration in the Animal Crossing world, thanks to the return of some old friends. Reese and Cyrus, the married alpaca duo who ran the Re-Tail flea market store in New Leaf, are back. They will visit Harvey's island to take some anniversary photos and they need the player's help. Arrange the photo studio to look like the picture-perfect wedding. Completing this task will give the player wedding-themed furniture and items.
