Once in awhile players may find Flick -- a red, bug-loving, chameleon artist -- wandering their islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Flick will buy any-and-all bugs players have caught and will pay 1.5x what Nook's Cranny will offer, so players have the chance to earn plenty of Bells while Flick is in town.

While tarantulas will make players a small fortune (Flick pays 12,000 Bells each) there are plenty of other bugs players can catch that will net them a small fortune. Each of these bugs, normally worth a minimum of 2,000 Bells at Nook's Cranny, will be worth 3,000 or more Bells if they are sold to Flick, so keep an eye out for these bugs while on the hunt for tarantulas.

Giant Water Bugs

As can be expected from their name, these creepy crawlies can be found on the surface of ponds and rivers. Players in the northern hemisphere will be able to find these critters between April and September while southern players will only find them October through March. They appear at night, between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m. and Flick pays 3,000 Bells apiece.

Butterflies

A total of 12 different butterfly species can be found in New Horizons. Some, like the common and yellow butterflies, are not worth much (both are only worth 160 Bells each) -- but there are a few other species that players may find worth capturing. Of the butterfly species, the emperor butterfly and Queen Alexandra's birdwing are the most profitable (Flick will pay 6,000 Bells for each of them), though there are a few other species that are still worth a decent sum.

Players from both hemispheres will be able to find the emperor butterfly between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m., December to March and June to September, while the birdwing can be found from May through September (north) and November to April (south) from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Atlas Moths

Atlas moths are nocturnal and will only begin to appear after 7 p.m. until 4 a.m. between April and September for northern players and October through March for those in the south. Players will need to look on the trunks of trees to find this moth, though its brown wings can sometimes blend in. They also spook easily -- it's best to approach slowly. Flick will buy an atlas moth for 4,500 Bells.

Wasps

These stingy insects can be found year-round and at any time of the day by shaking trees. Players will need to be quick if they want to catch the wasp rather than catch its sting. Players will have the best chance at catching a wasp if they stand directly in front of a tree before shaking it, with their net in hand. When the wasp's nest hits the ground, Animal Crossing will automatically turn the player's character toward the threat in their shock -- players just need to hit A to swing their nets and boom! Wasp caught, sting avoided. A sting or two might be worth it in the end, though, because Flick will happily reward players with almost 4,000 Bells for their efforts.

Banded Dragonflies

There are four species of dragonfly available to catch, though only the banded dragonfly will be worth more than a few hundred Bells. If players sell these to Flick he will pay 6,760 Bells apiece, so players should keep an eye out for it flying around the island during the day, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Banded dragonflies can be caught May-October in the northern hemisphere and November-April in the southern.

Orchid Mantis

Orchid mantids can be very difficult to spy, but they're worth an impressive 3,600 Bells if sold to Flick, so they can garner players some quick Bells. They can be found on white flowers and will tend to blend in, so players will need to keep a keen eye on their flower gardens between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., March-November (north) and September-May (south).

Scorpions

Scorpions are on-par with tarantulas, not just for the creepy-crawly factor but also for worth as Flick will pay 12,000 Bells for these critters. The bonus is that scorpions can be found during the tarantula's offseason (May-October in the north, November-April in the south). Like the tarantula, these arachnids can be found on the ground between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m., giving players ample opportunity to enjoy a hefty sum of cash year-round.

Stag Beetles

There are seven different species of stag beetle for players to catch in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, though they are only available July and August (north) and January and February (south). Stag beetles are a great way to make a lot of Bells, ranging in value from 1,500 Bells for the miyama stag to 18,000 Bells for the golden and giraffe stags when sold to Flick.

The cyclommatus, golden and giraffe stag can be found after 5 p.m., the rainbow stag after 7 p.m. and the giant stag is perfect for night owls, as it appears after 11 p.m. These species will only be available until 8 a.m., but players can still catch the miyama and saw stag throughout the day.
