Lucasfilm recently released a new trailer for Andor, which offered Star Wars fans their first official look at Forest Whitaker's return as Saw Gerrera in the upcoming Disney+ series.

The new Andor footage reveals that Saw Gerrera will seemingly be working with Stellan Skarsgård's Luthen and Diego Luna's Cassian Andor. Skarsgård's Luthen narrates the trailer, saying that he needs "all the heroes I can get." The trailer then cuts to Whitaker as Gerrera, who tells Luthen, "For the greater good." Luthen responds, "Call it what you will," to which Gerrera boldly states, "Let's call it... war." Whitaker first appeared as Saw Gerrera in 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which also introduced Luna's Cassian Andor. Whitaker returned to voice the character in the animated series Star Wars Rebels and the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Saw Gerrera was introduced in the animated series Star War: The Clone Wars as the brother of the leader of the Onderon rebels. Andrew Kishino voiced the character in The Clone Wars and reprised the role in Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

Andor is set five years before the events of Rogue One and explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire. The series promises to be filled with danger, deception and intrigue and explore the journey that led Cassian Andor to turn into the rebel hero seen in the 2016 Star Wars film. Luna has previously explained that Cassian's journey into a hero will not be an easy one. "We find him in a place where he’s not aware of how capable he is of transforming or being part of change or executing such a sacrifice, but he is the man that comes out from fighting since he was six years old," said Luna about his titular character. "He's a very interesting, dark, wounded person. You’re not going to believe that he's capable of what he does in Rogue One."

Andor Also Brings Back Mon Mothma

In addition to Whitaker and Luna, Andor is confirmed to feature one more familiar Star Wars character: Genevieve O'Reilly's Mon Mothma, who is the co-founder and leader of the Rebel Alliance. The character first appeared in 1983's Return of the Jedi, portrayed by Caroline Blakiston. O'Reilly stepped into the role in 2005's Revenge of the Sith and returned as the character in Rogue One. The actor seems excited to be returning for Andor, explaining in a previous interview that the upcoming series dives deeper into Mon Mothma's backstory. "We have now the chance to get to know the woman. Previously, she was a bit of a pillar, or maybe a statue," O'Reilly said. "I love that now we get to excavate that a little bit and learn about the human being -- the woman behind the gown, if you will."
