Disney+'s upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff Andor is confirmed to have at least two seasons of 12 episodes each, with preparations already underway for the second season.

In Vanity Fair's recent feature on everything Star Wars, writer and producer Tony Gilroy was asked whether Cassian Andor's companion from Rogue One -- a blunt, outspoken and formidable droid named K-2SO -- would be in the show. "We don't have Alan Tudyk," said Gilroy. "Not yet, anyway." The showrunner clarified that a second season was already in the works, though, saying, "It's really, for me, the second half of the novel. The first season is about [Andor] becoming a revolutionary, and the second 12 episodes take him into Rogue One."

2016's Rogue One was the first Star Wars movie to spin off from the main series. The film introduced Cassian Andor as a former thief turned idealistic rebel who would eventually make the ultimate sacrifice for the Rebellion. Diego Luna will reprise his role from the film, and the star revealed that he thought "the character was gone" for him before being offered the role. Luna also said that a lot of material left out of the movie was useful for the show and that he thought he was "never going to be able to share" those aspects of the character.

Tudyk provided the voice of Andor's imposing droid associate, and though it's clear he won't be in the first season, Gilroy confirmed that Andor will begin five years previous to the events of Rogue One and cover Andor's life leading up to the plot of the film. So, it's only logical that fans will get to see how the pair meet, which Gilroy teased with his comments. One character fully confirmed for the first season is Rebel leader Mon Mothma, played by Genevieve O'Reilly, and more casting announcements are sure to come, as Gilroy said the series will have "a huge, orchestral, Dickensian ensemble cast."

With the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi right around the corner, Andor will join a growing staple of Disney+ Star Wars shows when it debuts this summer. One show that fans are still waiting for more information about is Lando, which will explore the life of fan-favorite Empire Strikes Back character Lando Calrissian. Donald Glover portrayed a young Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and recently hinted at his involvement in the show.

Andor will begin streaming exclusively on Disney+ this summer. Obi-Wan Kenobi arrives on the platform on May 27.
