The upcoming Andor Season 2 will feature the return of another Star Wars: Rogue One cast member in the form of Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera.

In a recent interview with ComicBook, Whitaker confirmed that he will be reprising his Star Wars freedom fighter in the upcoming second and final season of the Diego Luna-led Disney+ series. However, it remains unclear if the character will play a bigger part in Andor Season 2, compared to his two-episode appearance in the first installment, where fans found out that he has been hiding on the planet of Segra Milo following the events of Star Wars Rebels. He mostly shared scenes with Stellan Skarsgård’s Rebel Alliance leader Luthen Rael, who visited him to trade stolen Imperial technology.

Whitaker made his Star Wars debut as the live-action version of resistance fighter Saw Gerrera in 2016 with Gareth Edwards' prequel film Rogue One. The character first appeared in the fifth season of Dave Filoni’s animated series The Clone Wars, in which he was voiced by Andrew Kishino. Afterward, Saw Gerrera continued to have a recurring presence in other animated shows including Rebels and The Bad Batch as well as a cameo in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

What to Expect in Andor Season 2

Andor Season 2 is currently filming in the United Kingdom but production was recently forced to shut down over safety concerns caused by "turbulent weather, which has increased the risk of rockfalls and landslips." During Star Wars Celebration 2023, Lucasfilm officially announced that the final installment is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in the summer of 2024. However, it’s unclear if the recent production setback will affect its return.

Luna also revealed that the fans’ feedback on the first installment definitely influenced the development process of Andor Season 2. "We actually listen to audiences and critics, and we understand what things connected and what didn’t connect," he said. "It’s kind of cool to have an opportunity to go and execute another season having this information... Somehow, the audience is part of this season because the interaction we had served as inspiration."

While waiting for Andor Season 2 to return in 2024, fans can now stream all twelve episodes of Season 1 on Disney+.
