Andor has made another convincing case to Star Wars fans as part of Disney's D23 festivities by unveiling a new trailer for the imminently arriving Disney+ series.

The new D23 trailer for Andor showcases the personal sacrifice of Diego Luna's title character in the series-spanning arc that will ultimately make him a member of the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Of course, it will be a process filled with tremendous twists and turns as the character overcomes his own cynicism against the overwhelming forces that grasp the galaxy. Moreover, as the presence of the radically ruthless elements of the Rebellion, as represented by Forest Whitaker's returning Saw Gerrera, makes clear, said arc will also involve the moral quandaries of indiscriminate attacks.

Of course, the series centers on star Luna's eponymous eventual member of the Rebellion, Cassian Andor, who fans first met in the 2016 one-shot movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, depicted as a leading participant in Jyn Erso's (Felicity Jones) temerarious infiltrative heist of plans for the planet-killing Death Star, which would prove consequential to the climax of 1977's A New Hope. While, at that point in the timeline, the character was already well-entrenched in the covert guerilla war against the Galactic Empire, the prequel series will chronicle an intriguing arc, starting with him as a child, eventually showcasing him as an adult during early pre-Rebellion days as an aimless ne'er-do-well; one who eventually finds a purpose in combating Imperial oppression across the galaxy.

Pertinently, the primary events of Andor are set around five years before A New Hope -- or, as the franchise's calendar colloquially puts it, 5 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) -- which similarly marks it as being five years before Rogue One. Indeed, the series has already set its story trajectory, aiming to eventually bridge the timeline gap across four years, showcasing the events that entrench Cassian in the covert war. In that sense, it aims to manifest both as a character profile of a (powerless) non-Jedi and depict real-world-rooted struggles. As star Luna recently explained, "I would say is that under is the most grounded Star Wars you'll get. This is about the people. There's no Jedi around, and it's very dark times in the galaxy. It's when the people have to come together, articulate a response, and work in communities because the Empire is growing and control is everywhere. People have been marginalized, and there's no freedom. You have these communities having to react."

Luna will be joined in the Andor cast by names such as Adria Arjona and Alex Ferns. Additionally, the series will substantially showcase Genevieve O'Reilly, who reprises her Rogue One role as Imperial senator and secret Rebel leader Mon Mothma, a character first seen in 1983's Return of the Jedi as played by Caroline Blakiston. Likewise, the Rogue One reunions will continue on the creative side since the film's screenwriter, Tony Gilroy, serves here as showrunner and credited creator.

Andor is scheduled to premiere its first three episodes on Disney+ on Wednesday, September 21.
