And Now The Real Opening Credits For AMC's The Walking Dead

Last month we posted animator Daniel Kanemoto's incredible take on the title sequence for AMC's The Walking Dead, made using artwork by Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard, and music by the Eels. Now, just three days before the adaptation's premiere, the actual opening credits have made their way online, and they're everything they should be: tense, chilling, sorrowful -- and without a zombie in sight. They're visually stunning, with the desolate, faded images, but it's Bear McCreary's haunting theme that really gets under the skin.

The Walking Dead premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
