Anakin Skywalker Actors Unite at Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars' Anakin Skywalker is among the most celebrated heroes and villains in science fiction. The pre-Darth Vader version of the character has been notably played by three actors: Hayden Christensen, Matt Lanter and Jake Lloyd. Two of those actors were at this year's Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, and they snapped a photo together.

“WE WERE THE CHOSEN ONES!!!!” Lanter captioned a photo of himself with Christensen on Instagram.

Christensen notably played Anakin Skywalker in the live-action films, while Lanter voiced the animated version of the character in The Clone Wars, which ran from 2008 to 2014 on Cartoon Network and is returning later this year.

SWCC is an annual gathering of fans and creators in honor of the popular franchise. Lucasfilm formally launched the event in 1999 to celebrate the release of The Phantom Menace. The first Star Wars Celebration was held in Denver, Colorado.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the third instalment of the sequel trilogy and the ninth (and final) film in the Star Wars franchise. It stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, Ian McDiarmid, and posthumously, Carrie Fisher. It opens in theaters on Dec. 20.
