The Mandalorian star Amy Sedaris had no idea what her lines on the popular Star Wars series meant.

In a recent Empire magazine interview, Sedaris opened up about what it was like to play Peli Motto, The Mandalorian's lovable mechanic and babysitter. "Memorising the lines is the hard part for me because I don't understand what I'm saying," Sedaris said. She noted that directors David Filoni and Jon Favreau "will explain it to me, but that doesn't really help because I just don't get it." The challenging dialogue provided the perfect bonding opportunity for Sedaris and co-star Pedro Pascal. "We would make each other laugh because we would finally get through this monologue and then just crack up because we can't even believe that we had to say it."

The technobabble-filled dialogue wasn't the only challenge Sedaris faced while filming The Mandalorian. "Favreau will always throw something at me," she said, "like I have to speak 'Frog'. And I'm like, 'What does a frog sound like?' And he's like, 'I don't know,' and he'll walk away. And I'm like, 'Oh my God.' That happens to me every season. Like the Jawas, I have to start speaking to them. But that's what makes it fun."

Peli Motto, Friend to Din Djarin and Grogu

Sedaris first appeared in the Season 1 episode "Chapter 5: The Gunslinger." The juxtaposition of her quirky humor with Pascal's more solemn Din Djarin quickly earned Peli a spot as fan favorite, and Sedaris reprised her role in Season 2 and then again in The Book of Boba Fett. Favreau wrote the character specifically for his long-time friend, who worked with him as part of Chicago's Second City comedy troupe in the late 1980s. In addition to her role in The Mandalorian, Sedaris is also known for playing Jerri Blank in Strangers with Candy.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian ended with Din Djarin's adorable companion Grogu going off to train with Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker. Din and Grogu's story continued in an episode of The Book of Boba Fett, with the two reuniting and setting off on new adventures.

The next season will reportedly focus heavily on the Mandalorian mythology, Djarin's quest to regain his honor, and the return of Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze, a character who originated in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Also returning for season 3 are Carl Weathers' Greef Karga, Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon and Omid Abtahi's Dr. Pershing.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian are currently streaming on Disney+. Season 3 will begin streaming on March 1.
