Season 3 of American Gods will bless viewers' screens starting next year.

Starz posted a new piece of artwork featuring a clunker board, which announces that Season 3 will premiere on Jan. 10. Neil Gaiman, who wrote the novel the show is based on and serves as executive producer, spoke about Season 3 and how relevant it is due to recent events.

"America must be for all of us, and American Gods must reflect that," Gaiman said. "This season truly feels as if it does. It's full of drama and emotion, the very real and the utterly strange, and it features some of the finest performances the show has yet seen."

A teaser trailer for Season 3 revealed that Shadow Moon has moved to the town of Lakeside to avoid contact with Mr. Wednesday and the other gods. The trailer hinted that Season 3 will focus on the chapters that cover Shadow's residence in Lakeside and his divine heritage.

American Gods centers on the exploits of ex-con Shadow Moon, who becomes embroiled in a war between the Old Gods of legend and the New Gods of modern society. The show has had several behind-the-scenes upheavals, with cast members and showrunners departing the show. Orlando Jones, who portrayed Mr. Nancy/Anansi, has been rather vocal about the circumstances that led to his firing.

Based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, American Gods stars Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Bruce Langley, Yetide Badaki, Ian McShane,  Kahyun Kim, Demore Barnes, and Chris Obi. Season 3 will premiere on Jan. 10, 2021.
