American Gods Season 3 has kicked off its promotional campaign with a great picture of Wednesday's (Ian McShane) and Shadow Moon's (Ricky Whittle) radical new looks.

Neil Gaiman, the author of the original American Gods novel, promoted the picture on Twitter with the caption "Lakeside is coming! American Gods is moving into winter in season 3." Wednesday has exchanged his duster for a cotton-linen shirt with African motifs, and Shadow has let his hair and beard grow and, instead of his usual neutral tones, is sporting earthy oranges.

The fact that the pair are standing in front of a trailer, and that the ending of Season 2 had them set up, along with Salim (Omid Abtahi) as international terrorists, probably means that they are disguised and trying to keep their heads down.

Fans of the book will remember that Lakeside was the idyllic winter wonderland town where Wednesday hid Shadow Moon, as well as the center of one of the novel's most intriguing and poignant storylines. When season 1 premiered, the producers were planning to cover Lakeside on Season 2, but it was pushed back to develop the story in another direction.

Based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, American Gods stars Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Bruce Langley, Yetide Badaki, Ian McShane, Mousa Kraish, Kahyun Kim, Demore Barnes, Orlando Jones and Chris Obi. Season 3 began filming on Oct. 9 and will premiere some time next year.
